HEXBORN by A.M. Manay is OUT TODAY!

If you are a Game of Thrones or Harry Potter fan, you can remember the thrill of opening that first book, reading a chapter or two, and realizing that you were onto something big.

HEXBORN, the brand new YA fantasy novel by A.M. Manay, is the NEXT BIG THING.  Hear me now, believe me later.  I had the privilege of reading an ARC months ago, and I could not wait for this day, when the book would finally be available to everyone.

In HEXBORN, the first book in The Hexborn Chronicles, Manay has created a world full of danger, political intrigue, and magic.  She’s given us solid characters with depth, not the least of which is Shiloh, the young heroine of the story.  Shiloh is different, and is therefore marginalized by the uneducated, yet coveted by those who would use her for their own selfish agendas.

Manay has created a richly drawn, exciting, and suspenseful world for her characters to traverse, and a map of her world is included in the book.

I can’t say enough good things about HEXBORN.  All I know is that I can’t wait for the next book to find out what happens next for young Shiloh.

HEXBORN is available today at Amazon.

A.M. Manay is also the author of the November Snow Trilogy, which, if you haven’t read that yet, you should add to your TBR list immediately.

CO 5 Star reviews

CHASING ORDINARY, my new modern-day adult fairy tale,
launched February 13 to 5-STAR reviews.

When artist Petey Cavanaugh agreed to show her steel and glass sculptures in a Manhattan gallery, she never planned on falling in love with a prince.

Following their chance meeting on a rainy evening, Nik realizes Petey doesn’t know who he is, and he savors his first-ever taste of ordinary. He knows he needs to be honest with her, but before he comes clean, Petey discovers the truth for herself.

Feeling humiliated and betrayed, she refuses to have anything to do with him. Will she give him the chance to explain? Or has his lie of omission cost him everything?

If you love grown-up fairy tales, this is the book for you.

Check out this steamy new excerpt from CHASING ORDINARY.

She turned her face to meet his lips, devouring them hungrily, as he pulled her closer.  Sliding her hands inside his jacket, she helped him shrug it off without breaking the kiss.  Holding her tightly, Nik backed their way to the couch where he sat, bringing Petey to rest straddling his lap, and deepening their kiss.

He slipped his hands beneath her sweater, skimming up her torso to cup her breasts.  Finally releasing his lips, she dropped her head back and gasped as he kneaded her mounds, fondling her nipples, coaxing them into sharp points that strained against the fabric of her bra.  She raised her arms and he slipped the sweater over her head, dropping it to the floor.

Nik leaned back slightly to admire her perfect tits, tantalizingly on display in ivory lace.  When he looked back up, her soft brown eyes flickered with heat.

“I want you.”  Her voice was husky.

He plunged his lips to hers once again.  With his hands on her hips, he pulled her against his burgeoning erection, and she moaned into his mouth.  “Let’s take this to the bedroom,” he murmured.

Gently, he slid her from his lap, and took her hand, leading her to the library door.  “Wait!” she hissed.  “All those people are out there.”

“Bloody hell,” he muttered, running a hand through his hair.  He blew out a frustrated breath.  “Just one moment.”  He held up a finger.  Planting a quick kiss on her cheek, he slipped out of the library, closing the door behind him.

Petey stood awkwardly, endeavoring to catch her breath.  As an afterthought, she scooped up her sweater from the floor and slipped it back over her head.

Two minutes later, the door opened and Nik leaned into the room.  “All gone.  I sent them all away for the rest of the night.”  He frowned slightly.  “You got dressed.”

“I felt silly just standing here, so…”

“Come,” he held out a hand.  “Let’s get properly reacquainted.”

Not bothering to close the bedroom door, Nik drew Petey to himself once again, peeling off her sweater and her bra as well.  Hands resting lightly on her hips, he gazed down at her.  “You have the most exquisite breasts.”  He cupped them, hefting their weight, rolling her nipples between his thumbs and forefingers, encouraged by her breathy moans.

“You have too many clothes on,” Petey murmured, reaching to loosen his tie.  She dropped it to the floor and helped him remove his shirt, as well.

Pressing herself to his bare chest, she reached up to tilt his face towards her, claiming his lips with her own.  Nik lifted her, walking to the bed, where he lay her gently.  With an impish grin, he unfastened her jeans and removed them, panties and all, dropping them with the other clothes littering the floor.

His mouth watered at the sight of the neatly trimmed thatch of red hair at the juncture of her thighs.  But he knew he couldn’t hold off any longer.  He undid his pants and dropped them to the floor, releasing the raging erection that would not be denied.  A glance up at Petey showed her eyeing his cock hungrily.

Quickly, he reached for a foil packet in the bedside drawer.  Tearing it open, he rolled on the condom, crawled on top of her, and slammed himself home.  Petey gasped in his ear as she tightly gripped his upper arms.  “Oh, yes,” she hissed.

Feeling his moment rising, he increased his pace, and Petey responded with cries of pleasure.  “Come with me, love,” he encouraged.  On his next thrust, she arched beneath him, calling out loudly, as he exploded in release.

In the second, Sarah meets a new lover after telling him all her intimate fantasies in an internet chat room. And, the final story concerns the journey a young woman takes, as a Dominant offers to show her the ropes, in exchange for her submission via BDSM. Individually these stories are hot, but together they are sizzling

Excerpt:

We had met on the internet. You know, in a chat room, and arranged to meet up.

The plane had just landed and I was extremely nervous, but excited. The things we had discussed online had made my heart race, so many fantasies that we
had both had. Now that we were meeting up, maybe, hopefully, some of
those fantasies would be fulfilled.

I stood waiting at the luggage carousel until I spotted my suitcase. The red satin
ribbon I’d tied on the handle now seemed like a little flag.

I’d dressed in a slim fitting black pencil skirt, scarlet top and scarlet suede high
heel shoes. My underwear was especially chosen with him in mind. A
black lacy bra, a new black lacy thong, finished off with stockings
and suspenders. A short black leather jacket over the top created the
look.

Even when I’d retrieved my case, I loitered a few minutes longer by the carousel,
wondering what would happen when we met. Would I even recognise him?
We had seen pictures of each other, and he’d heard my voice. I knew
he was over six foot tall, and he knew I was a little over five foot
five inches, so he would be taller than me.
My hands were sweating a little now, and my legs were shaking too. Would I be
able to go through with this? Would he? I nipped to the toilets, my
nervousness making me need a pee. I brushed my hair and reapplied my
make up, staring at my reflection.

I left the toilets, making my way slowly through the double doors in to the airport
foyer, with my eyes firmly trained on my feet, worrying that I might
trip, or fall, or do something stupid. Suddenly, I felt his gaze, and
I just knew it was him. When I raised my head, and our eyes met, I
spotted him straight away. There he was. Tall, dark, and handsome,
and headed my way. It might have been cliché, but it was true, and
he was mine, for the entire weekend.

My throat hurt now, and my heart stuttered in my chest. I stood stock still. As if my
feet were suddenly encased in concrete, I couldn’t move. He didn’t
falter, but instead gathered me up in his arms, then he was kissing
me. A long, lingering kiss. The sort of kiss you never want to end. I
dropped my bag and let go of my suitcase, oblivious to any one who
may have been watching.

When he began to speak I detected the amazing Irish lilt I knew he would have and I
just melted, well it felt that way to me. He picked up my suitcase
and took my hand saying “I’m so glad you are here. My
friend is going to drop us off at the hotel we are staying at. Come
on, I can’t wait for us to be alone.”

We left the airport hand in hand and walked to the short stay car park. I could see a
little white fiesta with a blonde haired guy in the driver’s seat.
Paul waved, and the guy got out and opened the boot. Paul put my
suitcase in, next to a large holdall, and we both climbed in to the
back of the car.

We sat there, not speaking, just holding hands, staring out of the window. The town was
lovely and quaint, with the houses painted all different colours, but
my eyes kept drifting back to Paul. He began to speak
immediately, “We’re almost there now. This is Michael, by
the way. We’re meeting up with him and a few other friends later on
tonight.” Michael glanced over his shoulder at me and added “Hi,
nice to meet you” Paul inched a little closer, our thighs
touching now. I could feel the heat of his body through his jeans.

Michael pulled the car up to the front of a fairly nondescript hotel, called The
Mermaid. Paul and I got out, he retrieved the suitcase and holdall,
and we said our goodbyes to Michael.

As we walked in to the hotel, I began to think about the first fantasy we had discussed
and could feel my face begin to flush. We approached the front desk
and signed in, picking up our keys in the process. The Concierge
enquired whether we needed some one to show us to our room. Paul
replied, “No, thanks, we can manage,” and we headed toward
the lifts, opposite the desk. When he turned to me, his smile
was more of a grin. “You ready to take the lift, Sarah?”

I gulped, and nodded. My mouth was too dry to speak now, as if it was full of sand.
We got into the lift, and the doors closed with a whoosh.

Immediately Paul had me pinned against the side wall of the lift, indicating over his
shoulder to the camera blinking in the corner. “You remember
what we discussed?” Before I could respond he leaned in to me,
kissing me deeply, ferociously. His hands wandered down toward the
hem of my skirt and continued their journey up the inside of my
thigh.

Bound for Passion is an assortment of erotic short stories by author Scarlett Flame.  This book contains four blazing hot stories that I recommend you read late at night or when the kids are at school!  The first two, The Visit and The Return Visit, are connected with the same great characters.  I just can’t get enough of them and would love to read their full story!  The third and fourth stories, The Stranger and The Awakening of a New Submissive, are not related to each other, but they both have paranormal aspects to them.
Bound for Passion is a deliciously naughty book and I need to warn you. It is essential to have a spare pair of panties nearby! I think I need a cigarette! Phew!
Can’t wait to read them again!

This dark, BDSM romance is suspenseful and HOT!  Here’s the blurb.

Paul believed in logic and order until she turned the tables on him.
It’s a hot summer night in the city.
He’s no longer the boy she seduced in high school.
It’s time for payback and he has all the tools to make her break.
She’ll know what it’s like to be pushed too far.

I read this book last year.  Now, it has an awesome new cover.  Here’s my original review.

on September 24, 2016
Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase

Paul is a man set on revenge. More specifically, he’s obsessed with the idea of doling out payback to Sage Phoenix, the girl who took his V-card back in high school and left him humiliated. When he happens to spy her working in her own tattoo shop, he sets his plan in motion. But there are unforeseen complications; nothing is ever that simple.

The Brat with the Phoenix Tattoo is the first book in a new series by Lilah E. Noir. It’s sexy as hell and completely intriguing–can’t wait for the next one! Highly recommended!

Book Spotlight–My Prison Without Bars by Taylor Evan Fulks

I just finished reading Taylor Evan Fulks’ multiple award-winning book My Prison Without Bars.  The subtitle is The Journey of a Damaged Woman to Someplace Normal.  This is a great book, the kind that sticks with you long after you finish it.

Taylor is a kind lady and a beautiful soul, and she always promotes one of my books.  I’ve had my eye on hers for a while, but in all honesty, I’ve been a bit afraid to read it.

Let me just tell you, this is not a book for the faint of heart.  It’s a novel/memoir chronicling the author’s experiences growing up and surviving years of brutal sexual abuse at the hands of someone she considered her father.  The abuse scenes are frank, graphic, and unflinching.  That being said, they never seem prurient or gratuitous.  They simple lay out the horrific torture inflicted on a child from the age of three through her teen years.

The story continues through her difficult adolescence following the departure of her abuser, and into her adult life.  All along the way, Taylor has a hard time deciphering who to trust, and she makes a few mistakes, trusting people who ultimately betray her.  It’s heartbreaking to watch as person after person lets her down, but shining through all of that is her unbreakable spirit, her determination that the damage inflicted on her should not define her.

If you’re looking for a book of substance, this one is that in spades.  I had to write a 5-Star review–it’s just that well-done.  You can get your copy at this LINK.

Now about Taylor Evan Fulks…

Taylor Evan Fulks is a native Texan transplanted years ago to southern Ohio, on the banks of the Ohio River. She is a wife, a mother of two “almost grown” daughters, and does open heart surgery to help pay the bills.

Always an avid story-teller, Taylor decided to put her pad and pen where her mouth is. “My Prison Without Bars” is her debut novel.

Her writing genre of choice is mystery/romance. Even though her debut novel doesn’t fall into that category, she felt compelled to start with this one, find peace, and put it on the shelf.

Weekend Excerpt–RUNNING ROGUE

The past week was literally stellar for Rannigan’s Redemption.  The books in the series received FOUR 5-STAR REVIEWS over the last seven days.  I’m thrilled that the story is still resonating with readers.

Rannigan’s Redemption is a 3-novel erotic romance/law drama about high-profile Manhattan attorney Michael Rannigan and his complicated relationship with smart red-haired Maggie Flynn, the recent law school grad he hires to join his elite firm.  One night of passion tears them apart.  Desperation will bring them back together.  Can Michael find redemption for all the ways he’s failed her?

rannigan2

This week’s excerpt is from the second book in the trilogy, RUNNING ROGUE.

Maggie strode purposefully across the lobby of Michael’s building.  It had been a shit week and knowing that she had to work all weekend to make up for what she’d missed, all she wanted to do was to check in on Michael, deliver his soup, and head home to a nice hot bath and a large glass of wine.  Ahead of her a man was just stepping into the elevator and she increased her pace, hoping to make it before the doors closed.  He turned and their eyes met just as the doors slid shut.

“Well, shit!” she muttered, juggling her purse, her brief case, and the bag from the deli.  Just then the doors slid back open.

“Sorry about that,” the man said, “I didn’t realize you were right behind me.”  He held open the door as she stepped in and turned around.  “What floor?”

Maggie glanced up at him.  He was tall with broad shoulders, muscular without being muscle-bound, with wavy brown hair and sparkling blue eyes framed by the longest lashes she’d ever seen on a man.  She’d noticed a bit of a drawl when he spoke.  Dressed in a t-shirt and sweatpants, he’d apparently been working out in the gym.  He stood beaming at her with a boyish grin on his face and he seemed to be waiting for her.  She realized she was staring.

Oh, shit!  What floor?  “Oh, sorry, um, twenty-one, please.”

He grinned again.  “Twenty-one.  That’s my floor, too.”  He held out a hand.  “I’ve only been here a couple of months.  We haven’t met yet.  I’m Bobby.”

Maggie shifted the deli bag and grasped his hand.  “Um, I’m Maggie.  I don’t actually live here.  I’m visiting a friend.”  She paused.  “Do you know Michael in 2101?”

Bobby’s eyes widened and he took a step back.  “Oh.  You’re one of Michael’s girls.”

Maggie frowned.  “No.  I am absolutely not one of Michael’s girls.  Nope.  Not me.  No way.”  She shook her head emphatically.

Bobby grinned wryly.  “So you’re not one of Michael’s girls.”

She felt her face flush.  “I’ve known Michael for a long time.  We used to work together.  He’s a little…under the weather, and I told him I’d stop by, bring him some soup.”  She held up the deli bag for emphasis.

He flashed the boyish grin, blue eyes sparkling with amusement.  Maggie felt her pulse race and a warm flush crept up her neck.  What the hell?

“So you’re a lawyer.”

She nodded.  “Yep.  Sorry.”

“Why sorry?”

“Everybody hates lawyers,” she replied as the elevator doors opened on the twenty-first floor.  She stepped out into the hallway and immediately went down hard on her left knee.

“Motherfucker!” she cried out.

Bobby was beside her instantly.  “Are you alright?  What happened?”

Maggie looked around.  “My shoe.”  The heel of her right shoe was caught in the space between the elevator and the hallway.  It had snapped off as she stepped forward.  Bobby grabbed it before the doors closed, then gently took her arm and helped her up.

“Did you hurt yourself?” he asked, concerned.

“I’m alright, really,” she replied shakily.  Blood was dripping from her knee and running in rivulets all the way down her shin.

“You banged up your knee.”

“But I saved the soup, so there’s that,” she quipped.

He placed a hand on the small of her back and walked her down the hall, stopping at a door.  “This is me,” he said.  “Come in and let me at least bandage you up.”  Maggie regarded him warily.

“I’m not an axe murderer, I promise,” he laughed.

She frowned.  “Isn’t that exactly what an axe murderer would say?” she said as he unlocked the door.

“Tell you what–we’ll leave the door open.  You can sit right here.”  He pointed to a bench in the foyer.  “If I make any sudden moves you can run for it,” he chuckled.

Sheepishly, Maggie sank onto the bench.  Truthfully, her knee hurt.  She set down her things and glanced up at him.  “Thanks,” she said quietly.

Bobby smiled and gestured to his right.  “I’ll just…go get my axe.”

She could hear him in another room rummaging around through something.  She removed her broken shoe and held up the dismembered heel.  It had come clean off the sole.  An image flashed through her mind of the shoe repair shop just around the corner from her apartment.

“I can fix that for you.”  Startled, she looked up.  Bobby had returned with first aid supplies.

“Oh, you don’t have to do that,” she said quickly.  “There’s a shop near my place.”

He poured alcohol on some gauze and knelt beside her.  “It won’t take me two seconds,” he murmured, dabbing at her knee.

Maggie breathed in sharply.  “Ouch!  Ow ow ow!” she protested softly.

Bobby looked up at her.  “Sorry, cher,” he said, “we’ve got to get it cleaned out.”  Gently he grasped the back of her calf and raised her leg, wiping away the streaks of blood.

Maggie stared at him, scarcely breathing.  There was something electric about his touch, so strong yet so tender.

He finished cleaning her shin and returned to her knee, carefully placing a large bandage over the scrape.  “There you are, good as new.  Well, almost,” he smiled.

He took the shoe and heel from her.  “I really can fix this for you.  I’d just have to find my tools,” he nodded his head toward the other room.  “I should really unpack anyway,” he smiled ruefully.

Maggie rose from the bench and stood lopsided on one heel.  “I don’t want to be more trouble than I’ve already been.”

Something tells me that you’re all kinds of trouble, cher.  “It’s no trouble.  Besides, I’d be worried about you limping along like Quasimodo on your way home,” he laughed.

She laughed, too.  “Well, alright then.  Thank you.  And thanks for…”  She glanced down at her knee.

“It’s my pleasure, cher,” he said quietly.

Maggie felt as though suddenly all the air had gone out of the room.  She stared up into his amazing blue eyes.  She opened her mouth but no words came out.

He spoke.  “Just stop by when you’re finished at Michael’s.  If I have to leave before that, I’ll bring you your shoe.”

Review: Quick and Dirty: Volume Two: Milestones by Patient Lee

I just finished a great book by one of my heroes, erotic realism author Patient Lee.  I always love her books, and was excited to read her second Quick and Dirty anthology. The book includes six great stories that range from sweet and nostalgic to downright dark.  I took my time reading the book, savoring each story in its own right.

Here’s my 5-STAR Amazon review.

Quick and Dirty: Volume Two: Milestones is an anthology of six shorts by erotic realism author Patient Lee. I’m a HUGE Patient Lee fan, and couldn’t wait to read this book. I had no idea what to expect from these stories, other than the usual spot-on human drama and steamy love scenes that are Patient Lee’s signatures. I was not disappointed.

I cheered for the Birthday Girl and for the would-be fiancee in The Side Effect. I felt a sense of the familiar in Wallpaper, and watched it all go wrong in Purple Glitter. Suffocating is dark and twisted, and I appreciated Lee’s preface to the story–it made sense after that. But I lost my heart to Sharing Her Heart–it’s a teaser to Mrs. Maitland’s SAD Valentine, the next Patient Lee book I absolutely have to read.

Love sexy little stories with a different vibe? You will love this book! 5 HUGE STARS!!

Hurry and use this link to get your copy!  You’re going to love it.

I’m Hooked!

I’m write steamy love stories.  I read steamy love stories.  So obviously, I love romance.  But I never thought I’d get hooked on a new reality show.

Have you seen the new NBC show, First Dates?  I never intended to become a fan, I promise.  But it happened to be on one night, and after a few minutes, I couldn’t look away.  The premise is that couples meet at a trendy Chicago restaurant for a blind date.  The hopeful romantics are diverse in age, race, and sexuality, and watching them struggle through awkward introductions is both funny and heart-warming.  I can’t look away, and even my love is hooked, much to his chagrin.

Airing Friday nights on NBC, it’s the Americanized version of the British program of the same name.  Ellen DeGeneres is the executive producer, and the episodes are narrated by Drew Barrymore.

Here’s the official description from the First Dates website.

Everyone can relate to the experience of a first date: the promise of potential love when it goes well and the hilariously awkward moments if it crashes and burns. From Executive Producer Ellen DeGeneres, narrated by Drew Barrymore and based on the hit U.K. format, this new series offers a voyeuristic look at a variety of real first dates happening throughout one night at the same restaurant in Chicago. The daters are of all ages, backgrounds and from across the U.S. The audience comes along for the ride in a refreshingly authentic viewing experience that plays like a real-life romantic comedy. At the end of each episode, we find out if the participants want to see each other again for a second date or if they head back to love’s drawing board.

Here’s a little clip.

And good news–you can watch entire episodes at www.nbc.com/first-dates.

Seriously, how can you resist?  I love LOVE.  Sigh.

Watch This Space–Unorthodox Therapy by Lilah E. Noir

UnorthodoxTherapy

Okay, y’all, you probably remember way back when I helped promote Lilah E. Noir’s Unorthodox Therapy when it first launched.  But at the time, I hadn’t actually read the book.  Now that I have, I need to revisit this recommendation again, because HOLY COW this is a great book!

Unorthodox Therapy is about tough, no-nonsense corporate CEO Lina Riley, who has her company and her whole life under control.  Her addiction to cigarettes is her only vice.  But a hot young programmer, her former personal assistant Thomas Jett, has an idea of how to help her curb her nasty habit.

Have a peek at my review:

Lina Riley is a woman in control. As CEO of her own tech company, she runs a tight ship and is the very definition of calm, cool, and collected. But she also has a vicious nicotine addiction.

Thomas Jett, formerly her personal assistant and currently a rising software developer within her company, has an unusual solution for the one vice Lina can’t seem to control. All she has to do is submit to his Dominance and he’ll guide her to replace the nasty habit with new thoughts and behaviors. She’s at once repelled and intrigued by the idea. Could it possibly work? And is it really about the cigarettes? Or does she have a deep need to relinquish control to someone stronger?

As the Unorthodox Therapy progresses, Lina’s shocked to realize how much she craves Thomas’s control, but she’s terrified–what if the company or their clients find out about her private predilections?

I love the way we get a sense not only of Lina’s misgivings about giving up control to Thomas, but we also understand his concerns and fears about being the kind of Dom Lina needs. The BDSM sex is hot and steamy, but let me tell you, about 3/4 of the way through, a sudden turn of events had me flipping pages so fast I nearly blew up my Kindle. By the end, I was breathless and dying to read the next installment.

Don’t miss Unorthodox Therapy! Lilah E. Noir, write like the wind! I need to know what happens next for Lina and Thomas. 5 HUGE STARS!

The title of my review is “Literally Left Me Breathless,” because that’s exactly what it did.  Of course, the BDSM sex is sultry and then some, but beyond that, we feel for Lina and Thomas as they each struggle with their own demons.  The suspense that’s introduced, however, pushes the whole story over the top, and I’m not kidding when I say that I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.

Now, notice that the subtitle is Unorthodox Trilogy Book 1.  All I’m saying is, I absolutely cannot WAIT for the next installment.

This is a great book that you should NOT miss!  Trust me on this.  Here’s where you can get your hands on Unorthodox Therapy.

Release-Day

Watch This Space–Spotlight on Jolie Mason

cry-havocOkay you guys.  Not long ago, I featured Jolie Mason’s latest book, Cry Havoc.  But I hadn’t actually finished reading it at the time of the post.  Now that I have, it deserves another spotlight, because it’s just that good!

Here’s my review from Amazon:

As a huge fan of Jolie Mason, I was super excited when I found out that she has a new series. In Cry Havoc, Aiden Simeon is a very young man with a load of responsibilities, not the least of which is the care of his ad hoc family, three orphaned kids for whom he strives to provide. He’s working as a tech with the Lancers, a fact which pleases me to no end–I loved Mason’s 47th Lancers series, and I’m thrilled that she’s brought back some of those characters.

Cry Havoc is fast-paced sci-fi, but it has heartbreaking moments and a deeply character-driven core. Take it from me, you will want in on the ground floor of Jolie Mason’s new War in the Stars series. Can’t wait for the next installment–5 BIG STARS!

Jolie Mason was kind enough to stop by my little blog and answer Pandora’s Dirty Dozen.  So get to know this talented sci-fi romance author.  Who knew she’s into menage books, just like me?  (*cough*  Paging Nia Farrell.  *cough*)

1. Describe your books and your writing style.

Scifi romance and young adult scifi

2. Talk about your process. Where do you write? When do you write? Are you linear or do you write scenes and put them together later? Who are your muses and where do you get your best ideas?

My muses in my genre ( there are many others) are Anna Hackett and Cynthia Sax. Also, AR Declerck, oh, how I love her prose. No one writes prose the way she can. I am most inspired by reading and music.

3. Tell us about your latest release.

Cry Havoc. The first in a series of straight up scifi aimed at younger adults. It’s about so many things; family, loyalty, robots gone horribly awry.

4. What is your current project?

I am currently plugging away at the second in my Brother Assassins series, Brother’s Keeper.

5. Now about you… Very generally speaking, where do you call home?

Southeast Missouri, right on the river. RIGHT on the river.

6. As a reader… What genre do you most often read? What is your all-time favorite book, and why?

Mostly I read future and past. lol. I devour SFR like it’s going out of style, but I also pick up the occasional Paranormal romance and Historicals. Jane Eyre is my go to. I’ve read it probably thirty times in my life, and have multiple highlighted copies around here somewhere.

7. What do you like to do when you’re not writing or reading?

Karaoke keeps me sane, as I struggle with three kids entering the dreaded teen years.

8. We all have guilty pleasures. I enjoy boy bands. There, I said it. What is your guilty pleasure?

Menage books. I have a serious weakness for erotica sometimes, and coffee. Lots of coffee.

9. What superpower would you choose, and why?

As a scifi writer, this is a more serious question than you might suppose. We contemplate this kind of stuff. I would most love to be able to turn invisible at will. Flying would just get me killed. I do NOT want to read the thoughts of random strangers. OMG. There are too many side effects to almost everything psychic, so I would choose sneaky because it has practical applications.

10. If you could live anywhere, you’d choose…

Anywhere? I’d build one of those treehouses like you see on PBS. The kind that are like mansions and have wifi. Then, I’d probably build another and end up with some strange artist’s commune because I cannot stop when I love something.

11. I wish _________________ would read my book.

I don’t know. I get freaked when I know someone’s read it. I wonder endlessly what they thought, so usually I don’t want to know. lol

12. In the airport, you overhear a heated argument between a husband and wife. You:

politely ignore it.
stop what you’re doing and watch with rapt attention.
mention it to airport personnel.

tuck it away for use in a future book.

Now run, don’t walk, to get your copy of Cry Havoc.  Get in on the ground floor of this exciting new series!
