Weekend Excerpt–And The Winner Is…

A platonic Dom/sub relationship?
It’s a damn odd arrangement.

When FOR SPARROW, the third book in the Dream Dominant Collection, won the 2018 Golden Flogger Award for Best BDSM Book in the category of BDSM Light, I was beyond thrilled. I felt validated that A) the folks at the BDSM Writers Con liked my book, and B) they approved of the way I portrayed the lifestyle.

That second part was important to me, because with Sparrow, I wanted to do something different. We’ve all read and loved those billionaire Dom/poor little sub books. But with this book, I wanted to write something more realistic in honor of the regular couples out there who happily live out their power exchange lifestyle in quiet anonymity.

In the book FOR SPARROW, Jessi Crenshaw is devastated when her Dominant husband Graham unexpectedly dies. But as it turns out, Graham had an inkling that his health was in decline, and he has made arrangements for Jessi in the event of his death. He has asked his young friend and mentee in the lifestyle, firefighter paramedic Judd Farris, to look after Jessi if the need ever arises.

It’s a responsibility Judd takes very seriously, and he’s determined to honor his friend’s unorthodox request, at least until Jessi finds a new Dom of her own. But as time goes by, Judd realizes he’d like to be that man.

Here’s a snippet from FOR SPARROW.

Back inside the house, Judd washed up in the kitchen sink. Jessi handed him a dishtowel to dry his hands. He eyed the old dishwasher, then looked to Jessi.

“I don’t really feel like messing with a dishwasher today, do you?”

Jessi’s eyes widened. “Oh, well, no, of course not. I’m sure you have plenty to do. Don’t worry about it at all,” she said quickly.

Judd shook his head. “It’s a beautiful day. Why spend it inside?” He stood straight, hands on his hips. “How do you feel about stand-up paddleboarding?”

She worked her mouth for a moment, frowning. “I don’t guess I’m opposed to it, as an activity, you know. I’m sure people enjoy it. Live and let live,” she giggled nervously.

“I mean,” he cupped her elbow gently, “how do you feel about going? With me. Today.”

“Oh, I don’t know, Judd. I’m kind of the queen of klutz.” Jessi’s face turned bright pink. “I don’t know if I’d be any good at it.”

Judd’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Not sure I like my little one putting herself down. Besides, there’s nothing to be ‘good at,’ you just…stand and paddle.” He pantomimed for her.

He saw the reluctance in her face and gave his best reassuring smile, eyes sparkling. “Come on, Jessi, it’ll be fun.”

Slowly, her smile spread to match his. “Okay. Let’s do it.” She went upstairs and quickly changed into her swim suit and beach cover up.

On the way to the surf shop, Judd stopped by his place to pick up his paddleboard and gear. He let them both into the townhouse and Jessi waited as he bounded up to the second level.

“It won’t take me a second to load my stuff into the truck,” he called from upstairs. Jessi clutched her hands together anxiously as she surveyed Judd’s living room. Everything was neat and tidy. She didn’t know why that surprised her.

You just think about the stereotypical ‘bachelor pad,’ she supposed.

Crossing the room, she saw that the view from the sliding glass doors was breathtaking. She imagined what it would be to wake up with a view of the ocean every morning.

“Almost ready,” Judd said, returning downstairs wearing aqua board shorts, a white t-shirt, and a Marlins ball cap. A pair of black Oakley sunglasses hung around his neck from a black strap.

He held up a small black cube. “I want to try out my new GoPro while we’re out there today,” he grinned.

Five minutes later, they were on their way north, heading for Blueline Surf and Paddle on A1A. They rented gear for Jessi and declined the offer of a lesson. “I’ve got it, man,” Judd smiled to the clerk.

Jessi was surprised to find that they were going to put into the river right next to Guanabanas, a local outdoor dining hotspot just across the street from the surf shop. “Afterwards, I’ll buy you a cocktail,” Judd promised.

After a brief orientation, Judd helped Jessi onto the board and gently pushed her out into the Loxahatchee River. “Am I supposed to wear the life jacket?” Jessi called back to him, indicating the ocean blue PFD currently resting on the nose of her board.

“Can you swim?”

“Of course!” she returned.

“Then you don’t have to wear it. But you do have to have it with you, it’s the law.”

Judd smiled as he watched her wobble slightly. She looked hot in what was actually a modest blue tankini, her auburn hair clipped up and off her neck, the red highlights gleaming in the sunlight. He could only imagine Jessi in a bikini. Did imagine it. Then tried to think of something else, before she noticed his arousal.

Sighing deeply, he clipped the GoPro to the bill of his cap and paddled quickly to catch up with her.

When their hour was up, they returned Jessi’s gear to the shop, and put Judd’s things back in the truck. With Jessi’s white beach dress back in place, they wandered into Guanabanas and found a small high-top table in the bar area. A lone guitarist was playing Jason Mraz covers on the tiki stage.

Jessi ordered a Cat 5 hurricane while Judd opted for a local brew, and they chose a few appetizers. After the server left, Judd pressed the button on the GoPro. “So, Jessi, what do you think of paddle boarding?”

Her grin was stunning. “I loved it! It was so much fun, and way easier than I ever thought.”

He leaned into her and held the camera at arm’s length. “Well, you had a kick-ass teacher, so…” They both laughed into the camera.

Deciding that he had enough footage for the day, Judd shut off the camera, and he and Jessi chatted companionably about the day’s adventure.

During a lull in the conversation, Judd wrinkled his brow thoughtfully. “Was Graham much of an outdoor kind of guy?”

“Graham?” Jessi chuckled. “No. He wasn’t really into sports and things. He was something of an academic.”

Judd looked thoughtful. “What about you?”

“Me? Oh, I don’t know.” Her gaze was far off. “I remember once I took the kids camping. They wanted to go so badly, but Graham just wasn’t about sleeping outside, you know?”

She laughed lightly. “Not when there are perfectly good air-conditioned rooms available.” She stirred her drink with her straw.

“But you enjoyed yourself today?” His gaze was earnest.

“Oh, God yes. I’d love to do this again.”

Judd gnawed the edge of his thumb thoughtfully. “What other things have you always wanted to try, but never have?”

Jessi shrugged and rolled her eyes. “I don’t know.”

He watched the flush creep up her neck, but stayed quiet, waiting for her.

She sighed when she realized he was going to remain silent. “I guess…I’ve always sort of wanted to try scuba diving.” She looked at him out of the corner of her eye.

Judd grinned broadly. “We can make that happen. I’m certified, and I know an instructor. We can get you out there in no time.”

“I don’t know, I mean… Maybe I should try snorkeling first.” Jessi blushed and slugged back the remainder of her hurricane.

He nodded. “We can do that, too. Anytime. You know, we don’t have to just work all the time. We can get together for fun.” He lowered his voice. “As your Dom, I’m supposed to push you, to help you grow.”

Jessi looked up at him shyly. “Yeah, I know. It’s kind of exciting.”

His grin was dazzling. “This is good. This is really good.”

Weekend Excerpt–Where It All Began

It was the job of a lifetime…

When Bella Grant was offered the opportunity to create her own television travel show, she jumped at the chance. Turns out, she’s being paired with a partner in crime, a jaded former news photographer who will be her co-producer.

A consumate professional, Bella is prepared to work to make the best program anyone has ever seen. She can ignore the attraction she feels for her new partner, Luke McGillicutty. Right?

Here’s a little snippet from LUKE & BELLA.

As the cab drove from the airport and through town, Bella felt giddy, not at all like the sleek sophisticate she hoped to show to the world. It wasn’t as if she hadn’t traveled before. God knew, Nathan Epperson Grant, II, made sure he took his family to all the prestigious vacation spots—skiing at St. Moritz, Christmas in Paris, summers in the Caribbean… Couldn’t let the guys at the club outshine him. Her father had always had something of an inferiority complex. It only served to make her respect him less.

But this was different. She’d never been to Scotland before. More than that, though, was the idea that this was her job. She was about to create something new. Well, she and Luke. She glanced over at him.

He was looking out the window on his side of the car. A tuft of salt and pepper chest hair peeked out of his shirt where it was unbuttoned at the top. Bella felt a hitch in her chest, thinking to herself, Those twenty-something girls who want their guys all hairless are crazy. A woman wants a man, not a boy. Chest hair is sexy as hell.

As she shook her head slightly at the thought, she felt her nipples stiffen of their own volition. She tried to casually put her jacket back on before he noticed. Luke looked at her and she smiled. He winked, and her breath caught again.

The car stopped in front of the Balmoral Hotel, a large gray stone Victorian building resembling a castle, with a perfect view of Edinburgh Castle which was visible just beyond the hotel. They entered the hotel lobby, allowing the driver and doorman to arrange for their bags. Bella approached the front desk confidently.

“Reservations for Grant and McGillicutty,” she said to the clerk.

“Yes, Ms Grant, we have you in the Royal Suite,” he replied.

“Perfect. And how about Mr. McGillicutty?” she inquired.

“Yes, ma’am, you’re in the Royal Suite,” came the reply.

Bella frowned slightly. “Which of us is in the suite?” she asked.

The clerk pointed to his computer screen. “Ms Grant, Mr. McGillicutty, Royal Suite for the next four nights.”

“I’m sorry, maybe I’m jetlagged, but are you saying that we are sharing the suite?” Bella asked, her voice rising a notch. Luke watched with interest.

“Of course, Ms Grant. It’s a lovely suite, our very best,” the clerk assured her.

“I’m sure it is, thank you. I’m assuming the suite has two bedrooms?” she asked, regaining reasonability.

“One large bedroom, one bath. Of course there are the sitting area with a fireplace and a terrace with a view of the castle,” the man continued.

“Only one bedroom? That’s completely unacceptable. I’ll take a different room.” Looking to Luke, “You can have the suite, I don’t care, but obviously we need two rooms.”

“I’m sorry, ma’am, but the hotel is completely booked. The Royal Suite is the only available room.”

Bella blinked, shaking her head. “Completely unacceptable,” she repeated. To Luke, “I’m calling Charlie,” and she moved away from the desk.

“Sir, the suite comes with a complimentary couple’s massage,” the clerk informed Luke, helpfully.

Luke grinned and chuckled to himself. “Hey Bella, good news, the room comes with a complimentary couple’s massage!” From across the lobby, she covered the phone with her hand and shot him a death glare. He laughed again, enjoying the show.

A groggy voice answered the phone. “Um…hello?”

“Charlie, it’s Bella. We just got to Edinburgh and we have an issue,” she rapid-fired into the phone.

She had his attention. “What’s the problem?” he asked, concerned.

“Well, we’re ready to check in to the hotel and there’s a snag. Your office only reserved one room. Which wouldn’t be a problem, we could just get a second room, but they’re apparently booked solid and they don’t have any other rooms,” she finished breathlessly.

Silence. “Hello? Are you there?”

“Are you telling me that you woke me up for this?!” Charlie asked. “Seriously Bella?”

“I’m sorry to wake you, I forgot about the time,” she apologized, “but Charlie, really, this is unacceptable.”

“Knock it off and grow the fuck up, Bella. This is traveling for a living. Deal with it. Things happen,” he responded.

“But, Charlie,” she began, but he cut her off.

“Is this a deal-breaker, Bella? Are you saying you want out?” Charlie demanded grumpily.

Caught off guard, her eyes widened. “No, of course not, it’s just…Ok, Charlie, I’m sorry, I’ll deal with it,” she answered. “But next time, I’m making the reservations myself.”

“Fine, whatever,” he said before hanging up on her.

Bella sheepishly approached the front desk again. “Ok, well, I guess we’re in the Royal Suite, then. Thank you.”

Luke grinned and said nothing.

Weekend Excerpt–WARRIOR MINE

She’s the perfect combination of princess & warrior.

When single mom Jackie Walker meets her brother’s best friend, wilderness survival expert Scott Nielsen, she’s instantly attracted to the tall, blond outdoorsman. But she has no idea that he’s Dominant.

As Scott works to set up his new outdoors school at the Walker family’s remote lakeside guest lodge, he sees in Jackie the submissive she’s positive she’s not. And maybe the one he’s been waiting for.

Can strong, independent Jackie let go enough to allow Scott to show her a whole new world?

Here’s a wintry teaser from WARRIOR MINE.

Wringing her hands in front of her, Jackie paced back and forth by the windows as cold fear thrummed through her veins. The storm seemed to have increased in intensity, but she wondered whether it was just her imagination.

She’d received Scott’s text half an hour earlier, and she’d forced herself to walk away from the computer where his GPS location was being tracked on a map of the lake. Watching minute by minute wasn’t helping anything, and she had guests to attend to.

A glance showed her that Emma and Grant were still playing quietly, unaware of the danger Scott faced alone in the snow. Perhaps it was that, to them, strong and larger than life as he was, he was simply invincible. She envied them, she realized.

“He’s fine, Jacks.” Blake materialized beside her, handing her a mug of coffee.

Jackie accepted it, nodding her thanks. “I know. I just…” She shrugged, not knowing what else to say.

A loud bang from the reception area startled them, and a whoosh of cold air swirled into the room.

“Oh, thank God!” Jackie ran to the dining room door, several others following behind her. Across the reception area, the lodge’s front door had swung all the way open, banging against the wall. Snow swirled wildly on icy gusts around a lone figure in a black parka.

Jackie grabbed his arm and pulled him further into the room, then battled the wind to close the door. Hadley Pierce tugged down his hood and stomped to shake off the snow from his boots and clothes.

“C-c-cold,” he shivered, pulling off his heavy gloves.

“Come on, bud,” Dan Spinelli said. “Let’s get you by the fire.” He helped the man out of his coat and guided him into the dining room.

Jackie hung the coat on a hook and followed. “Where’s Scott? Putting away the snowmobile?”

Pierce pulled off his black knit beanie, uncovering his shaggy dark hair which stuck out in all directions. He dropped the cap to the floor and held his hands out toward the fire. “So fucking cold,” he muttered.

“Scott! Where’s Scott?” Jackie grabbed the young man’s arm and spun him around.

He blinked down at her.

“Dammit! Where is Scott?”

“How should I know?” he shrugged, turning back to the fire.

Jackie grabbed him again, whirling him around and slamming him against the stone of the fireplace. “You should know because he went out looking for your sorry ass when you went out in the middle of a fucking blizzard,” she growled.

Blake placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. “Easy, sis.”

Indignance flashed in Pierce’s eyes. “Look, all I know is, your piece of shit snowmobile broke down, and I had to walk all the way back here. I don’t know anything about Scott.”

He shoved past Jackie to return to the fire. “He’s a sorry excuse for a wilderness expert, you ask me,” he muttered.

Before Blake could stop her, Jackie spun the young man around once more and slapped him hard across the face. A second crack rang out before Pierce could recover from the first.

“You listen to me, you snot-nosed motherfucker.” Jackie waved her finger in his face.

Blake gently wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her away from the young man.

“He’s out there looking for you after you ignored his instructions. He told you not to go out in a blizzard. He’s risking his life for you, you sorry sack of shit!”

Pierce opened his mouth to reply, but Jackie raised her hand as if to slap him a third time. “Not another word. You keep your mouth shut, and you stay away from me. As soon as this storm’s over, I want you out of here, and I never want to see you again.”

She turned on her heel, heading to the office. Blake followed close behind her. “Jacks, we’ll just text him and tell him to come back.”

“Yeah, but it still infuriates me that one idiot created such a mess. And the snowmobile didn’t ‘break down’. He wrecked it on the rocks at the end of the lake. Scott found it.”

She tapped in the password and the screen lit up with a topographical map of the lake. Leaning closer, she blinked. The blip that had been Scott was gone. She refreshed the page, but there was no red path leading from the lodge to the end of the lake.

“What the…” Blake clicked a few things, but nothing changed the map.

On her phone, Jackie sent a quick text.

The douchebag just showed up. Hurry back now.

The message was immediately returned with an error notification. Receiving device unavailable. Try again later.

Jackie looked up at Blake, who shrugged slightly. “Something must be wrong with his sat-com.” He scrubbed a hand across his mouth as he sank into a chair. “So, we don’t know where he is, and we can’t communicate with him.”

“I’m calling the police,” Jackie said, determination in her voice. She tapped the number into the office phone.

After a trio of rings, someone answered. “Eliot Lake Police, Ned Hart.”

“Ned, thank God! This is Jackie Walker at Lake Miranda Lodge. One of our survival school students went AWOL in the storm, and Scott went out after him. The thing is, the guy wandered back, but Scott’s still out there. We can’t get ahold of him on the sat-com, and I’m frantic. Can you send someone out to look for him?”

There was a pause on the other end. Then, “Jackie, I can’t send anyone out in the middle of a blizzard. Now I’m looking at the radar, and it looks like this might all be past us in another couple of hours, but I’m sure you understand, I can’t risk the lives of my team in the middle of a storm like this.”

Jackie felt as though she’d been gut-punched. She fought to breathe.

“Jackie?”

She pulled herself straight and tall. “Fine,” she said softly, “I’ll just go find him myself.”

Weekend Excerpt–LOST & BOUND

Has Hollywood bad girl Shasta Pyke met her match
in Dominant mountain man Blake Walker?

When former child star Shasta Pyke finds herself in trouble with the law, she’s sent to cool her heels for a while in the wilderness of northern Ontario. For the next few weeks, she’s the sole guest at the Walker family’s remote lodge.

Blake Walker is glad that the exhorbitant fee she’s paying allows for his sister and her kids to go on a much-needed vacation. He’s happy enough to stay behind and tend to their VIP guest. At first glance, he’s none too impressed with Shasta. She’s rude and demanding. Nevermind that the red-haired spitfire is hot as hell.

But as he spends time with her, he begins to glimpse the frightened little girl she hides from the world. Could it be that this spoiled brat is the baby girl his Daddy Dom soul has been waiting for?

Here’s a snippet from LOST & BOUND.

When the power went out, Blake wasn’t surprised in the least. If anything, he was surprised it had lasted as long as it had. This was undoubtedly the worst storm so far in what had been a very dry summer. Angry lightning streaked across the dark sky, with thunder booming almost instantaneously. For microseconds, the flashes illuminated the entire lake like mid-day.

He slid open the sheer drapes that shrouded the glass doors overlooking the lake and settled in, book in one hand, a second bottle of Lebatt Blue in the other. Leaning back, he rested his feet on the battered leather ottoman, content for the moment to watch the storm’s fury.

His eyes moved to the dark shape in the middle of the lake. He knew from experience that a wild storm like this one was a dicey proposition in the tiny island cabin. For one thing, because it was situated on the crest of the island, the wind howled mercilessly around the structure. And being on the highest point, with thirty-foot pines towering over it, the cabin was a natural lightning rod. The thunder would be deafening.

He wondered how Shasta was faring. As he watched, another jagged bolt etched a path across the sky. He chuckled lightly, picturing her, eyes wide, with the covers pulled up over her head.

I should check on her first thing in the morning.

Eventually, he lit the oil lamp beside him and began to read. Bear paced anxiously back and forth in front of the huge window. He’d never been a fan of storms, not since he’d been a pup. Suddenly the dog stopped pacing and whimpered softly.

“What’s wrong, boy? You’re okay, it’s just a summer storm.”

Bear whimpered again and woofed softly. Frowning, Blake set down the book and stood beside the dog, looking out into the stormy night. “What is it? Is something out there?”

Then he saw it. A tiny point of light between him and the island. It bounced and tossed as it…

Blake shook his head. “No way. No way is she in a boat in the middle of this storm.”

In the next instant, lightning flashed and he saw her clearly, Shasta, huddled against the wind and rain, steering the tiny skiff toward the lodge’s dock. She was battling against the ferocious gusts of wind and white-capped waves on the lake that threatened to capsize the boat.

“Son of a bitch!” Blake growled. “No more sense than a…” He threw on his boots and shrugged into his rain slicker, pausing to don his headlamp before pulling up the hood. “Son of a bitch!”

He kept his eyes on Shasta as he stalked out to the dock, crossing to the end to wait for her. When she was close enough, he held out an old wooden oar and she grasped the end of it, allowing him to pull her the rest of the way to the side of the dock. Blake reached down to cut the motor and grasped her by the upper arms, pulling her out of the boat.

She stood in front of him, eyes wide with terror, and she was soaked to the skin, not having bothered with a raincoat. He shouted above the storm. “God-dammit, Shasta, what the hell were you thinking?”

She just blinked up at him, shaking either from fear or cold, or both. “Come on, let’s get you inside.” He easily scooped her up in his arms and she buried herself against his chest.

Blake was shaking too, but it was from anger. She’d recklessly endangered herself. If he hadn’t seen her, if the boat had swamped… It was beyond his comprehension. He carried her straight into his cabin, kicking the door closed behind them. He set her down in the kitchen and stepped back.

“Explain yourself.” He crossed his arms and watched her expectantly.

Shasta stood shaking, her red hair plastered to her head, her soaked white camisole completely sheer, her pink pajamas clinging to her legs. She crossed her arms, too, but the gesture was self-protective rather than angry. It only served to push up her breasts, punctuated by hard-tipped nipples, made harder by being cold and wet. He worked to ignore them, trying to understand what she’d been thinking.

“Well?”

“I…” she stammered, “I was so scared.” She was shivering constantly now, and a trickle of blood ran down the side of her face.

Blake lifted her chin gently. “What happened? Why are you bleeding?”

Her head shook slightly. “I don’t…” her teeth chattered, “I don’t know.”

Peering closely, he saw a cut at the hairline above her right temple. Swiping the hair back, he spied a sliver of glass and carefully removed it. “Come with me,” he commanded.

She followed him through the living room as he picked up the oil lamp and carried it into the bathroom, where he lifted her up and sat her on the counter. The cut on her head had begun bleeding in earnest when the glass had been removed. Blake used a gauze pad to apply direct pressure on the cut. Shasta sniffled softly as tears ran down her face.

“What’s wrong?” he growled.

“You called me Shasta,” she sobbed.

He snorted. “What you did was a very ‘Shasta’ thing to do. That’s the least of your worries right now. Hold this.” He moved her hand to hold the gauze in place and he reached around to turn on faucet in the bathtub.

She sat shivering, watching the tub fill with hot water. Clouds of steam filled the room. He left for a moment, returning with a flannel shirt of dark red plaid, which he hung on a hook on the back of the door. Next he turned off the water.

“Let me see how it’s doing,” he murmured, carefully peering under the gauze. The bleeding had slowed. He took a bandage from the medicine cabinet and applied it over the cut. Shasta was still shaking like a leaf.

“You’re almost hypothermic. I want you in the tub. Strip.”

Shasta blinked up at him.

“Don’t make me tell you twice.” His voice was quietly intense as he lifted her off the counter and stood her in the middle of the floor.

Shakily, she pulled the camisole over her head, dropping it to the floor. Blake watched unblinkingly, a hard expression on his face. She hooked her thumbs into the top of her pants and slid them, panties and all, down her legs. She nearly tripped stepping out of them, and Blake reached to steady her.

Naked, she stood trembling as he devoured her with his eyes, starting with her perfect round tits and their tight pink points, her narrow waist and the flair of her hips, the bare cleft at the junction where her legs met. After all, she’d been on display on the dock, surely she wasn’t shy now. He knew he was being an ass and he didn’t care. Anger still thrummed through his veins.

“Get in the tub. I’ll set a timer for fifteen minutes. After that, the water will cool off too much to help.” He disappeared, returning moments later with a kitchen timer which he set on the bathroom counter.

“Why aren’t you in the tub? Was I unclear in some way?” he snapped.

Shasta touched the wall for stability as she dipped one foot into the tub. “It’s hot.”

“It’s supposed to be hot. We have to warm you up.” He watched her step in with the other foot and ease herself down. She looked like a drowned rat, peering up at him all wide-eyed.

“When the timer goes off, get out and dry yourself. You can put this on,” he indicated the flannel shirt he’d hung on the door. “You will go into the bedroom and sit on the edge of my bed. You will wait until I come back. Is that clear?”

Shasta nodded silently.

“I said sit. You will not lie down, you will not get into the bed. You will sit. If you’re cold, there’s a blanket you can use to wrap around yourself. Do you understand?”

Again, she nodded. A look of annoyance crossed his face, and then passed. He nodded sharply. “I’ll be back.” He closed the bathroom door behind him and she heard him speak to Bear. “Stay here, boy, keep an eye on her. I need to think.”

Weekend Excerpt–FOR SPARROW

Winner of the 2018 Golden Flogger Award for Best BDSM Book!

When I started out writing my contemporary BDSM romance Dream Dominant series, I wanted to do something different from the usual billionaire Dominant, poor-girl submissive trope. I’ve loved those books, they’re really great reads, but I’m more interested in exploring the lives of regular everyday people and their deeply intimate experience in a power exchange relationship.

In FOR SPARROW, the award-winning third book in the Dream Dominant series, event planner Jessi Crenshaw is devastated to find herself widowed at a much younger age than she expected. She’s lost her husband, best friend, and Dominant.

But her late husband Graham had an idea that his health was in decline, and he made provision for Jessi in the form of his young friend and mentor in the Lifestyle, Dominant firefighter and paramedic Judd Farris. Following his sudden death, Graham informs them of his intentions in letters he left for each of them.

Judd is determined to keep his promise to his friend, to watch out for Jessi until she finds a Dom of her own. But what if he’d like to be that man? Could it be that Graham had something more in mind than merely a temporary arrangement?

Here’s a very steamy snippet from FOR SPARROW…

Judd used the palm of his hand to caress the curve of her ass as he trailed light kisses down the side of her neck, murmuring to her tenderly as he did. Then he stepped back and nodded, giving Mateo permission to move forward with the floggers.

A flogger in each hand, Mateo stalked around the wooden structure, choosing the target for his first stroke. He settled on a medium flick across her bottom, and Jessi cried out in surprise. “Color, queridita,” he quietly demanded.

Jessi’s voice shook. “G-green, I-I was just surprised.”

“You were just surprised…” When she didn’t immediately answer, he landed another stroke in nearly the same place.

“Master Mateo,” she squeaked. “I’m sorry, Master Mateo.”

Mateo looked to Judd and grinned. She’d figured it out quickly.

Judd nodded to his friend to continue. He knew Mateo was a master of the flogger, and of watching a sub’s responses carefully. There wasn’t another Dom anywhere he’d trust more with the care of his precious Angel.

Mateo lightly drew the suede fringe across Jessi’s back, causing goosebumps to form across her body. Then he gave a medium swat against the center of her ass, allowing a few tendrils to stray between her legs and lick her pussy. Jessi yelped at the unexpected sensation.

Satisfied that she was suitably warmed up, Mateo began to twirl the floggers, applying light blows from her shoulders to her upper thighs in a rhythmic pattern, a light swish-slap sound filling the room.

Unable to keep up with the stimuli, Jessi rested her head against the wooden support. She felt her body begin to float. As the blows continued, she heard Judd in her ear. “Such a good girl.” From the other side of the cross, he massaged her pussy, dipping a pair of fingers into her dripping core. Using his thumb, he circled her engorged clit as Mateo continued with the floggers, and she felt the orgasm building in her core.

Judd removed his fingers and wiped some of the juice on her lips. “Taste yourself, Angel. Taste how much you like what we’re doing.”

Panting, Jessi licked her lips, tasting the salty tang of her own arousal.

Her chest began to heave, and Mateo stopped, dropping the floggers to the floor. He cupped her sex, dipping a pair of fingers into her drenched seam. “So ready, queridita,” he clucked.

At Judd’s nod, Mateo stepped over to the chair where he’d left his shirt, and he slid off his pants, returning to Jessi as nude as the day he’d been born. There was a murmur of approval from the observers as Mateo bared his muscular body. Judd followed suit, shucking his pants and leaving them over the back of a chair.

Mateo unfastened Jessi’s right wrist as Judd got the left one. Jessi rested her hands on their bare shoulders as they undid her ankles. With her arms no longer bound to the wooden structure, she started to slide toward the floor. “I can’t…I can’t stand up,” she panted.

“We’ve got you, Angel,” Judd said.

Mateo placed her arms around his neck and hefted her up, wrapping her legs around his waist and carrying her to the side of the huge bed, where he sat. Judd handed him a foil packet which he ripped open, rolling the condom down over his impressive member.

He shifted Jessi, spreading her thighs wide and pressing his cock at her dripping entrance. “I’m taking your cunt, queridita,” he growled, thrusting up suddenly.

Jessi gasped at the suddenness. Judd played with the anal plug as Mateo claimed her core, and she felt her moment rising again.

“We won’t be needing this anymore,” Judd whispered in her ear as he slid the intrusive steel out of her back hole.

Jessi heard a muffled thud as the heavy plug was dropped on a cloth on the bedside table. Mateo stood, wrapping Jessi’s legs around his waist again. He held Jessi’s thighs tightly, continuing to pound into her pussy. Judd rolled on his own condom and applied a generous amount of lube. He stepped behind her, rubbing her pink passage with his rigid cock. Mateo paused his movements to allow Judd access.

“Here we go, Angel,” he hissed in her ear, sliding himself home. Jessi moaned as both men pistoned into her. Mateo leaned forward and nipped at her shoulder, softly encouraging her in Spanish. Judd gripped her hair, now beginning to come loose from its soft bun, and pulled back her head, claiming her lips in a feral, heated way.

“I’m going to come,” Jessi breathed. “I’m going to come!”

“It’s okay, Angel,” Judd grunted, his own release upon him. “Go ahead.”

Jessi’s body shuddered as orgasm thundered over her. She shook as she cried out, her release splashing down the legs of her partners. Judd stilled, grunting as he poured himself into the condom, and Mateo buried himself to the hilt in her sex, growling his climax. The trio stilled, panting as a sheen of sweat covered them.

Weekend Excerpt–WARRIOR MINE

Can independent single mom Jackie ever agree to
give her submission to sexy outdoorsman Scott?

WARRIOR MINE, Dream Dominant Book 4, came about after readers of Book 2, LOST & BOUND, began asking about a pair of supporting characters, Jackie Walker and Scott Nielsen. In L&B, Jackie, the sister of Blake Walker, finds herself falling for her brother’s best friend Scott when Scott comes to the family’s remote guest lodge looking for a place to start his own outdoor survival school.

After they finished LOST & BOUND, readers wanted to know Jackie and Scott’s story, so I felt obliged to tell it.

The minute Scott Nielsen lands his float plane at Lake Miranda Lodge, Jackie Walker is instantly attracted to tall, handsome man with long blond hair and Nordic features. But when Jackie discovers that Scott is Dominant, she doesn’t know what to think. She’s even more confused when he says he sees a her own submissive soul. But how can that be? She’s been raising her two young children alone and running the lodge by herself ever since her husband left the family. Can she even begin to consider giving up control?

Fun Fact: Only two of my leading ladies do not have red hair. Jackie is one of them. You’ll have to read LOST & BOUND and WARRIOR MINE to discover why. 😉

Here’s a sexy teaser from WARRIOR MINE.

Enjoying the view, she watched as he walked to the bed and reached beneath it, removing a Kink Ink bag. “I went shopping myself today while I was in town.” His bag was larger than the ones she and Amy had returned with.

From the bag, he withdrew a mass of black straps and silver chain. Arching an eyebrow dramatically, he carried the device toward her, stopping beneath the massive log that served as the center beam of the cabin. Belatedly, Jackie noticed a heavy black ring attached to the beam. Reaching up, Scott secured a thick steel chain to the ring overhead. From the chain hung a curved black bar, with black straps in various lengths that dangled beneath.

Scott crooked a finger. “Come.”

Ignoring the butterflies performing dive bombs in her stomach, Jackie slowly padded toward him.

“Do you know what this is?”

She chewed her lower lip. “I have a pretty good idea.”

“And?”

Jackie flushed crimson. “It’s a sex swing?” She eyed the device curiously. Two padded straps connected the ends of the curved overhead bar, one longer than the other. Two short straps with cuffs at the ends hung suspended from a chain at the center of the bar. And at either end of the bar hung a longer strap with cuffs at the end, presumably for ankles.

He nodded. “I thought,” with his hands on her hips, he turned her around, “we might try something interesting.” He moved the lower strap behind her thighs. “Sit, Princess.”

Heart pounding, Jackie did as she was told, grasping onto the straps that hung down. Scott knelt, fastening a padded black cuff around each of her ankles, spreading her wide. Then he moved the shorter padded strap behind her shoulder blades. “Now lean back, Princess. I’ve got you.”

Shakily, she lay back against the thickly padded strap, gripping the side straps for dear life. With a smirk, Scott peeled her right hand off the strap, kissing it lightly before raising it to the cuffs overhead. He followed suit with her left hand.

When she was completely fastened in, he gave her a little push and stepped back to admire his handiwork.

“Whoa,” Jackie gasped as she swung around in a slow circle.

Scott grinned. “How does it feel to be completely under my control?”

Jackie tried unsuccessfully to suppress a nervous giggle. “It’s not so bad.”

“Not so bad? I’d rather it was oh, so good.”

As she swung around, she lost sight of him. When he came back into view, he was holding a black satin blindfold.

“Tonight, Princess, is all about sensations. We’re going to cover your eyes, so you can concentrate on what you feel.”

He stepped toward her and stopped suddenly. “Did you come up with your own safe words?”

Her eyes widened. “Oh. Yes. I did.” She looked to him, feeling suddenly sheepish. Maybe we should just go with the original ones, she worried.

He raised an eyebrow, waiting for her to elaborate.

“Well,” she gestured with a shoulder, causing the swing to spin to the left, “I thought I’d use earth, water, and fire.”

Scott pursed his lips in amusement. “Earth, water, and fire. What about air?”

As she spun, she shrugged. “Well, I only needed three, so…”

“Earth is the same as green?”

Jackie nodded. “And water is like yellow, and obviously fire is red.”

“Obviously,” he smirked. “Alright, I’m about to blindfold you. Give me feedback.”

“Earth.” She watched him carefully.

“Earth it is.” He leaned down and kissed her tenderly before he slid the black satin mask into place.

The next time he spoke, he sounded further away. “If at any time you feel uncomfortable, use your safe words.” She felt a swish of air, as though he’d moved by her.

“I considered a ball gag,” his voice came from in front of her, “but I need to be sure I can read your body language before we take away your voice.”

Strong hands gently gripped her lower calves as he trailed kissed up the inside of her right leg, his facial hair prickling in a maddeningly sensual way. When he reached the place where her thigh joined her body, he skipped her needy place to travel back down her left leg.

Jackie groaned with disappointment, and she felt the vibration of his chuckle against her inner thigh. “All in good time, Princess. The King will feast, I promise.”

When he’d finished his travels, he released her, sending her spinning in a slow, dizzying circle. With the blindfold, Jackie had no sense of up or down, left or right. She felt as though she were floating.

Then she heard a soft buzzing sound, followed by Scott’s sexy chuckle. “Oh, this is a naughty toy. Just what did you get up to with this?”

Mortified, Jackie was at once glad for the blindfold, and sorry she wasn’t gagged. “I, um…used it.”

He whispered into her ear. “Yes, but how?”

Oh. My. God. “I pressed it against myself.”

“And where exactly did you press it?”

Jackie cleared her throat. “I pressed it against my pussy.”

“Your pussy. This glorious pussy right here?”

She yelped as he unexpectedly touched the vibrator to her sex. “Yes.”

She felt him stiffen. “Yes, what?”

“Oh! Yes, Sire.”

He applied an open-handed pop to her pussy, and she yelped again. “How quickly we forget. Perhaps we should stop and allow you to consider the error of your ways.”

Jackie’s mind flitted to what Amy had said about orgasm denial, and she panicked at the thought of not being allowed to come during this play session. “Um, no, Sire, really, it was merely an oversight on my part, I’m so very sorry, please, I didn’t mean it, I just-“

Scott laughed out loud. “You’ve been talking to Amy, I see.” He whispered, closer now. “Don’t worry Princess. I plan to wear you out tonight.”

Weekend Excerpt–Happy New Year!

She’s the perfect combination of princess and warrior.
And everything he never knew he wanted.

When Scott Nielsen decided to base his outdoors wilderness school at his friend Blake’s remote guest lodge, he didn’t count on falling for Blake’s sister.

Single mom Jackie runs the lodge as a successful business. She’s smart and independent. No way would she ever consider gifting Dominant Scott with her submission. Right?

Here’s a steamy little New Year’s snippet from WARRIOR MINE.

A few days after Christmas, Blake and Amy volunteered to keep an eye on Grant and Emma while Scott took Jackie to the city for New Year’s Eve, which also happened to be his birthday.  Ready to let go of his apartment, it was the perfect time to retrieve the few things he had there worth keeping.

Odd as it seemed to him, given the fact that he was ending his lease, he was excited to show her the place he’d considered home for the past ten years.  He planned on showing her some of his favorite haunts, too, even driving past the BDSM club on their way to the apartment.

“They’ll have a big masked ball for New Year’s Eve,” he’d commented, thinking of the parties he’d attended in years past.

Jackie had gazed thoughtfully at the building as they went by.  As Scott knew, there was nothing to set the building apart from the other surrounding office buildings, no obvious outward sign of the nature of the space.  The club operated discreetly, ensuring members their privacy.

Once they’d arrived at his apartment, Jackie was unusually quiet.  He’d known she was debating something in her mind; once again, those wheels were turning.  Certain that she’d open up to him when she was ready, he chose to leave her to her thoughts as they began to sort through what he’d pack and keep, and what he’d throw away.

Which hadn’t taken long, actually.  They finished within a couple of hours.  After the final boxes were loaded into the back of the red antique pick-up truck and secured beneath a heavy black tarp, Scott and Jackie headed back upstairs.

The sun, barely visible for the heavy grey clouds that promised more snow, was just beginning to set, and his growling stomach reminded him that their lunch stop in Hamilton had been hours ago.  While Jackie slipped into the bathroom, Scott started thinking about where they might go for dinner.

But thoughts of dinner left him when Jackie emerged from the bathroom completely nude.  Without a word, she walked to him, eyes downcast, and knelt at his feet.

Every D/s couple has their own protocols, he knew.  Some Doms keep regular schedules, like clockwork, expecting the sub to perform certain tasks at certain times.  A sub like Jackie, though, he liked to keep on her toes.  He’d never established a specific routine, preferring to tell her what he wanted from her in the moment.  She’d never initiated knee time before.  So he was intrigued.

“Well, Princess, you have my complete attention.”

She kept her head down, hands resting palms up on her thighs, her nipples sharp points in the chill of the apartment.

He watched her for a moment, his erection straining against his jeans.  “Speak, Princess.  What’s on your mind?”

“Tomorrow is your birthday, Sire.  I’d like to offer you a gift.”  She kept her head down as she spoke, a fact that pleased Scott endlessly.  Warrior that she was, when Jackie surrendered to him, it was thrilling.

Lightly, he stroked her dark silky hair.  “It is my birthday tomorrow.  And it’s New Year’s Eve.  What gift are you offering?”  He pictured his cock in her mouth and his erection grew.

She hesitated slightly.  “I’d like to accompany you to the club tomorrow night.  I’d like to submit to you in public.”

Scott blinked.  It was not what he’d expected.  He exhaled heavily, scrubbing a hand across his lips.  “I love you so much, Princess.”

He squatted down, taking her hands in his.  She looked up at him, uncertainty in her eyes.  He knew that, private person that Jackie was, going to the club wasn’t something she wanted to do.  But she wanted to do it for him, to make him happy, to give a gift of herself.

“And I love your offer.  You know, it’s always been a dream of mine to go to the club and play with my own submissive.”

He gazed at her solemnly.  “But then I met you.”  He shook his head.  “Jackie, you changed everything.”

Standing, he held her hands and helped her stand.  “I probably should have mentioned it before, but I canceled my club membership a couple of months ago.  It just didn’t seem worth it.”

Her brow furrowed in a frown.  “You canceled your membership?  That’s just…”  She looked up to him, tears in her deep blue eyes.  “I thought I’d come up with the perfect idea for your birthday gift.”

She was so serious, he had to laugh.  “Jackie, just the fact that you offered to go is a huge gift.”  He quirked an eyebrow.  “I wouldn’t turn down a blowjob, though.”

They never managed to leave the apartment for dinner that night.  After Jackie took all of him in her mouth, he fucked her face until he shot his load down her throat.  Then he bent her over the kitchen counter and fucked her again, using his fingers to press against her clit until she cried out with pleasure.

Later, they had Chinese food delivered, which they ate sitting propped up in bed as they watched the lights of the city.

The following day, they slept late, enjoying the rare luxury of lounging in bed together without interruption.  In the early evening, they ventured out to a restaurant within walking distance of the apartment.  On a normal night, a table would be relatively easy to find, but since it was New Year’s Eve, Scott had phoned ahead for a reservation.

Dressed nicely for the occasion, they were shown to a table in the restaurant’s solarium, where they could watch the snow swirling in the light winter breeze.  A candle flickered on the table as a sommelier poured a glass of Sauvignon blanc for each of them.

Jackie lifted her glass.  “Happy Birthday, Sire,” she said softly.

His eyes twinkled in the candlelight.  “Thank you.  And Happy New Year.”

They sat watching the snow for a while.  Occasionally, they chatted quietly about Scott’s upcoming sessions or the new baby.  But for all the elegance of the restaurant and the beauty of the snow outside, the place seemed noisy to Scott.

Maybe it’s the fact that we live in such a remote place, we’re used to it being a lot quieter

At a nearby table, someone dropped a fork on the tile floor, and the echo was jarring.  When he looked across the table at Jackie, she smiled softly, and he knew she was thinking the same thing.

“It’s kind of loud in here,” she observed softly.

Suddenly, someone sneezed ferociously, and they both burst out laughing.

“Ah, Jackie, I’m so happy to be here with you tonight.”  He squeezed her hand lovingly.

Following dinner, their server brought a slice of raspberry cheesecake with a candle.

“Happy Birthday,” Jackie smiled.

He frowned slightly.  “How did they know it’s my birthday?”

“My King is not the only one who can pick up a phone,” she smirked proudly.

On their way back home, they picked up a chilled bottle of champagne.  Back in the apartment, while Scott poured the wine, Jackie changed into the periwinkle silk gown she’d worn so many months before.  While she now had several, it was Scott’s favorite.

He lit a few candles and spread a heavy quilt in front of the floor to ceiling window overlooking the city.  Then he stripped naked and sat cross-legged in the center of the blanket.  Champagne glasses resting on the floor, Jackie lowered herself onto his lap, wrapping her legs around him.  He gripped her ass, bare beneath the gown, and she leaned forward, capturing his lips with hers.

She broke the kiss to lightly trace down his neck with her lips.  “Happy Birthday, Sire,” she murmured against his skin.  She leaned back a bit and shrugged her left shoulder.  The strap of her gown slipped down her arm.

“Oh, that perfect breast.”  Scott leaned forward to take her rose-tipped nipple in his mouth.

Jackie shrugged off the other strap and the gown settled around her waist as she leaned up to position herself over his rigid cock.  Locking eyes with him, she slid down his length as he groaned with pleasure.

Hands on his shoulders for balance, she rode him, slowly at first, then increasing her tempo as both their moments neared.  Just as they cried out in release, the first of the fireworks burst in silver and red sparkles over the city. “Happy New Year, Princess.”

Weekend Excerpt–Christmas at Lake Miranda

When single mom Jackie Walker meets Scott Nielsen, she realizes she might be ready to take another chance on love. Scott, her brother’s best friend, has come to Lake Miranda with dreams of starting his own wilderness school. And he is drawn to Jackie from the start.

But he’s Dominant. Is there any way this strong, independent woman will ever agree to gift him with her submission?

Fun Fact: WARRIOR MINE is actually a spin-off from Dream Dominant Book 2, LOST & BOUND. Readers were intrigued by supporting characters Scott and Jackie, so they got their own story.

Here’s a Christmas teaser from WARRIOR MINE.

On Christmas Eve, after the kids had gone to bed, the adults gathered around the enormous festively-decorated white spruce.  Light Christmas jazz played in the background, and outside the floor to ceiling windows, snow swirled lazily in the half moonlight.

Jackie handed Amy a mug of warm mulled cider and settled beside her on a leather sofa with a mug of her own.  On the floor, Scott and Blake sat amid the scattered pieces of a pink Barbie house ‘Santa’ had found on sale months earlier and had put away until now.

Winking at Amy, Jackie suppressed a smile.  “Did you guys read the instructions?”

“We don’t need the damn instructions,” Blake huffed, pushing a stray lock of dark hair out of his eyes.  “We’re two intelligent, grown men.  We can figure out how to put together a dollhouse.”

The women clinked their mugs and giggled gleefully.

Amy looked from Blake and Scott to the twinkling Christmas tree, and to Jackie.  “I love this.”  Her voice was soft, and though she smiled, a tear was in her eye.  “This is the Christmas I always wanted.”

Jackie’s heart melted, and she reached for Amy’s hand.  “I’m so happy you’re here.”

Blake pushed up from the floor and pressed a tender kiss to Amy’s temple.  “This is our life, kitten.  This is our family, your family.  You belong here.”

Jackie smiled across the room at Scott, who winked at her, and she felt a familiar tummy flutter.  She loved the man more than she’d thought humanly possible.  And when summer came, she’d marry him.

After Blake and Amy retired to the guest room, Scott and Jackie went to bed, quietly making love, then holding each other until late into the night.

They awoke to a bright sunny day, the sky crystal cerulean, the sun reflecting brilliantly off the sparkling snow.  Emma and Grant squealed excitedly as they saw the mountain of gifts under the tree.  Scott sat at the end of the sofa and Jackie snuggled up beside him, each of them sipping steaming mugs of coffee.  Blake and Amy sat opposite them on the sofa’s twin, smiling as they watched the children tearing into their gifts.

Once they were finished, the kids had fun delivering gifts to the adults.  Finally, all the gifts were opened.  Blake and Amy gave each other a conspiratorial look.  “We have a few more gifts,” Amy said.

“More?” Jackie echoed, thinking of the extravagant handbag for her, and the top of the line boots for Scott.  “You’ve done so much already, seriously.”

Blake reached behind the sofa and picked up four identical shirt boxes wrapped in metallic red paper.  He glanced at the tags and handed one to each of the children and to Jackie and Scott.

Amy leaned forward excitedly.  “You have to open them all together.  Ready?  One, two, three!”

With a bemused glance at Scott, Jackie carefully opened her box.  Grant and Emma ripped theirs open.  “It’s a shirt,” Emma said, holding up a pink t-shirt.

Grant peered into the box.  “Thanks, Aunt Amy,” he said, making an effort to sound enthused about a shirt.  “It sure is…pink.”

Scott tilted his head as he looked at his, then elbowed Jackie lightly.  She looked at his, then gaped at hers.  In sparkling letters across pink cotton, she read, World’s Greatest Aunt.

Jackie gasped.  “I knew it!  I knew you were pregnant!  I’m so excited for you!” she squealed, rushing over to give Amy and Blake a big hug.

“We didn’t want to tell anyone until we knew everything was going to be okay,” Amy explained.

“Cool,” Grant said, pulling his new shirt over his head, “we’re going to be cousins!”

“Aunt Amy, are you having a boy baby or a girl baby?” Emma asked.

Blake grinned.  “It’s a little girl.  That’s why we gave you pink shirts.”

“Congratulations, man!”  Scott grinned as Blake stood and the two embraced.  “That’s great news.”

“I can’t believe it.”  He shook his head.  “I’m going to be a dad.”

Jackie sank onto the sofa beside Amy.  “A little girl,” she shook her head smiling.  “That’s fantastic.”

Amy nodded, eyes shining.  “Do you want to see the ultrasound pictures?”

“I’ll get them,” Blake said, heading in the direction of the guest room.

Grant and Emma returned to their new toys.  Scott perched on the arm of the sofa next to Jackie.  “I’m so happy for you two,” he told Amy.  She laughed happily.

From the direction of the guest room, they heard a tiny yip.  Jackie frowned.  “What was that?”

Eyes wide, Amy gave an exaggerated shrug.  “I have no idea.”

“Uh oh,” Blake called from the guest room.  “I think I found another present.”

Jackie looked up to see a shaggy black puppy with a huge red bow come running into the room.  He ran straight to the kids, yipping excitedly.

“A puppy,” Emma squealed.

Grant squinted at the tag on the big red bow and gasped.  “Mom!  It’s for us, from Santa!”

Blake leaned against the doorway looking pleased with himself.

“From Santa, huh?”

“I think Grandma and Grandpa might have mentioned it to the big guy,” Blake grinned.

Oh, for f—” Jackie glanced up at Scott.  “Did you know about this?”

He raised his hands in surrender.  “I promise, I knew nothing about a puppy.”

“They love Bear so much, they need one of their own,” Amy said, smiling.

“So, what are you going to name him?” Blake asked.

Brow furrowed, Grant watched the Newfie puppy for a moment.  “Max.  He looks like a Max to me.”

Ruffling the puppy’s ears, Emma nodded enthusiastically.  “Yeah.  Max.”

Jackie shook her head.  “He’s cute, I’ll give you that.  But I still want to see those ultrasound pictures of my niece.”

Weekend Excerpt–FOR SPARROW

2018 GOLDEN FLOGGER AWARD WINNER
Best BDSM Book, BDSM Light!

A platonic Dom/sub relationship?
It’s a damn odd arrangement.

When Jessi Crenshaw’s husband Graham dies unexpectedly, she’s devastated. He’s the only man she’s ever loved. Just eighteen when she met him, she’s been married to him for twenty-five years. Now she’s lost her friend, her lover…and her Dominant.

But as it turns out, Graham had an inkling that his health was in decline, and he tapped his friend and protégé in the Lifestyle, firefighter and paramedic Judd Farris, to be Jessi’s Dominant until she gets back on her feet.

Judd is determined to fulfill his promise to his friend. But it’s a damn odd arrangement—a platonic Dom/sub relationship. With her fiery auburn hair, sparkling green eyes, and audacious spirit, Jessi captured his attention the first time he ever saw her. At her husband’s funeral.

A man could go to hell for the things he’s been thinking. But they’ve drawn a line, and he’s going to stick to it.

Judd’s sexy good looks and his gentle confidence aren’t lost on Jessi. She’s torn between loyalty to the man she loved, and desire for the man increasingly in her fantasies. In the letter Graham left for her, he mentioned that she might find Judd attractive. But that’s simply ridiculous. He’s five years younger than she is. He couldn’t possibly be interested in her. Could he?

Judd’s a Dom without a sub, and Jessi’s a sub without a Dom. It’s perfect for the time being. Could it be that Graham had more in mind than merely a temporary solution?

And could it all end at the hands of a madman?

FOR SPARROW is a contemporary erotic romance novel with a light BDSM theme. It’s the third book in the Dream Dominant Collection.

Here’s a little peek…

Jessi’s hands shook.  With her index finger she traced the writing on the front of the envelope.  She glanced out the back door to see Judd kick off his shoes and sit on the edge of the pool, sinking his feet in the water.  Buddy flopped down beside him and rolled over, wanting his tummy scratched, and Judd obliged.

She turned her attention back to the envelope.  Her irrational self told her that if she didn’t open it, somehow everything could go back to normal.  But curiosity won the moment, and she slid her thumb under the flap and carefully opened the letter.

            My dearest Sparrow,

I’m so sorry I’m not there with you.  I can feel my heart beginning to wear out.  Please don’t be angry with me for not telling you, I know how you worry about things.  We’ve had a good life together.  I’ve told you before and I’m telling you again, you are the best thing that ever happened to me.  The fact that you are the mother of my children amazes the hell out of me.  What did I ever do to deserve such a terrific family?

Jessi reached up to wipe a silent tear from her cheek.  Self-consciously, she flicked her eyes out to the pool deck to find that Judd was watching her intently, and he flashed a sympathetic smile.  Sniffing, she read on.

It would be pointless, I suppose, to tell you not to mourn.  Just don’t do it too long.  And don’t you dare wear black.  God, I hate all that maudlin bullshit.  Now Sparrow, you and I know that you are a natural submissive.  I don’t want you to feel lost without a Dominant in your life.  I want you to find one, a true Gentleman who will cherish you in the way you deserve.  One who will nurture the sexy, sensual woman you truly are.  Don’t you go back to some kind of vanilla half-existence.  That would really piss me off.

Tears still streaming, she laughed because she could almost hear Graham’s voice.

If you have this letter, you’ve met Judd.  I’ve known him for several years now, and he’s a solid Dominant.  I’ve asked him to check in on you and to take care of some things around the house.  I’ve also asked him to help you out until you find a Dominant of your own.  Judd is willing to give you knee time, Sparrow, to help you settle your mind and find peace.  I don’t mean sex and kink.  He would be a sort of ‘emotional Dominant,’ just until you get back on your feet.

On the other hand, if you found yourself attracted to Judd, it would make me happy knowing that you’d be in good hands.  He’s a good man, Jessi, a gentle man and a Gentleman.  He would be a perfect sexual Dominant for you.  I worry thinking about the dangers out there, Sparrow.  You and Judd could make your own way.

Mortified, Jessi glanced out the back door.  Thankfully, Judd was staring out across the pool.  “I can’t believe you’re telling me these things,” she murmured to herself.

Anyway, I trust you, Sparrow.  You’re smart and strong, and I’m so proud of you.  Never forget that you are absolutely the love of my life.  I’m forever grateful to you for taking my hard, stuffy heart and helping me to be a better man than I ever dreamed about being.  Be sure the kids know how much I love them.  I love you, my Sparrow, with all my heart.  Live happy.  Find love and cherish it.

Your loving husband and Master, G.

Jessi was completely undone.  Sobbing, she folded her arms on the counter and rested her head on them.  She cried until she felt she had no tears left.  Moments passed and she raised her head.  It hurt and her eyes felt puffy.  With a glance at Judd and Buddy still sitting by the pool, she went into the powder room and splashed water on her face.

Taking a deep breath, she forced her feet out the back door and across the pool deck.  Judd smiled up at her kindly.  “How are you holding up?”

Jessi shrugged as she stepped out of her sandals and sat beside him, slipping her feet into the cool water.  They sat without speaking, each gently sliding feet through the water, watching the ripples cross the pool and return to them.  Judd moved his foot under her leg and raised her foot to the surface.  The fuchsia nail polish was chipped and peeling.

“How long since you had a pedicure, Jessi?” he asked gently.

She moved her foot away and looked at him sharply.  “What exactly did your letter say, Judd?”

He exhaled forcefully.  “Like I said, he was worried about you.  He said that you’re submissive and that you might need somebody in your life until you find your way.”  He glanced at her knowingly.  “When was the last time your mind was quiet, little one?”

A tear slid down Jessi’s cheek and she swiped at it roughly.  “So, you’re my appointed Dominant, is that it?” she asked testily.

“It’s not like that.”  Judd looked at her steadily.  “Graham and I were friends.  We talked about Dominance and submission for hours over the years.  He trusted me.  Trusted me with the one thing that meant the most to him in the world.”

He paused, gazing at her thoughtfully.  “He didn’t want you to run into the wrong kind of man while you’re looking to ease your mind, to fill that emptiness that I see in your eyes.”  Jessi stubbornly looked away and swiped at her cheek again.

“You know, it’s entirely up to you.  I’m going to complete the list of things around your house.  I promised him I would.  But whether you accept me as a surrogate Dominant?  Only you can decide that.”

He ran a frustrated hand through his hair.  “You miss knee time, I know you do,” he said softly.  “A chance to just let go of all the concerns that weigh you down.”  Jessi turned back to look at him, her expression softer.  “I’m not talking about kinky sex, tying you up and all that.  I’m offering you a chance to clear your mind of everything, let me carry your burdens for a while.”

“Why?  Why would you do that?”  Her voice was strained.

Judd shrugged.  “I’m Dominant.  It’s what I crave, to be needed, to take care of a submissive.”  He laughed lightly.  “I’m a Dominant without a submissive, and you’re a submissive without a Dominant.  For the time being, it works out well.”

He gazed at her steadily, kindness in his brown eyes.  “Just say the word.  Do you want knee time, little one?”

Another tear rolled down her cheek.  And she nodded.  “Yes,” she whispered.  “I want knee time.”

He smiled patiently.  “Yes, what, little one?”

“Yes, Master.”

Judd shook his head.  “I’m not your Master, little one.  Yes, Sir will do.”

Unconsciously, Jessi bowed her head submissively.  “Yes, Sir, may I please have knee time?”

“Yes, you may,” he responded gently.  “There is a big leather chair in your den.  Be kneeling beside the chair in two minutes.  Your eyes will be closed and you will clear your mind.  Do you understand, little one?”

“Yes, Sir.”  Jessi stood and started to walk away, but then turned and looked at him anxiously.  “My clothes, Sir?”

“Your clothes are fine the way they are,” he answered.  “Hurry.  I’ll come to you shortly.”

“Yes, Sir,” she said, and she hurried into the house.

Weekend Excerpt–LOST & BOUND

Spoiled Hollywood bad girl Shasta Pyke
is used to getting her own way.
She’s met her match in
Dominant mountain man Blake Walker.

LOST & BOUND, Dream Dominant Book 2, is special to me for several reasons. For one thing, Blake Walker is my first literary Daddy Dom, and I loved getting to know him. He’s strong, sexy, and oh, so protective.

Another reason this book is forever in my heart is the setting. Growing up, I spent many a happy summer vacation in the wilds of northern Ontario, Canada. Writing this book, and the spin-off WARRIOR MINE, Dream Dominant Book 4, allowed me to take a nostalgic trip back to one of my favorite places on earth.

In LOST & BOUND, actress Shasta Pyke gets into trouble with the law in Hollywood so she’s sent to cool her heels for a while in the wilderness of northern Ontario. Bush pilot and former wilderness counselor Blake Walker is none too impressed with the new high profile guest at his family’s remote lodge, but as he spends time with her, he begins to see glimpses of the frightened little girl she hides from the world. Could she be the baby girl his Daddy Dom soul craves?

Here’s a teaser from LOST & BOUND.

Blake expertly angled the small boat to rest beside the tiny dock and killed the motor, tying off his end before jumping out and tying the front end as well.  Then he again offered his hand, helping Shasta climb out of the boat and onto the dock.

She stood taking in the view as he unloaded her things.  The lodge was visible across the water, seemingly closer than it actually was, judging by the ten-minute ride.  If she hadn’t been in such a foul mood, she would have found the place beautiful.  The only sound she could hear was the wind in the tops of the countless pine trees covering the island.  It would be a short climb up to the crest of the island where a log cabin sat.  She could see a stone-surrounded fire pit flanked by a quartet of dark green wooden Adirondack chairs and further away, stretched between two large pines, was a white canvas hammock.

When all her things were on the dock, Blake turned to her.  “Let me take you to the cabin.  There are a few things I need to show you.”

He took off up the hill and Shasta teetered along behind him, carefully avoiding large rocks that were in the way.  “Are you making it?” he called over his shoulder.

“I’ve got this, don’t worry about me,” she muttered.

Blake turned away and grinned to himself.  He was waiting for her when she finally made it up the hill.  “I hope you brought other shoes.”

Out of breath, Shasta put her hands on her hips and nodded.

He unlocked the door and held it open for her to enter the cabin.  She stepped into an open room featuring a seating area in front of a fireplace immediately to her right.  Further into the room, a kitchen was arranged in the back left quarter of the space with a cast iron stove on the back wall and a kitchen table pushed against the right wall down from the fireplace.  Between the fireplace and the kitchen table was a small desk that held some sort of radio equipment.  Shasta peered into an alcove to her left and saw that it was a tiny bedroom.

“Now,” Blake was saying, “the lights run on propane.  You turn this little lever and you can light them with a lighter.  The fridge and the cooktop also run on propane.  Same thing, you turn the knob and then light it with the lighter.  I already lit the pilot on the fridge and it should be fine.”  He indicated a small metal box beneath the kitchen counter.

Wordlessly, Shasta followed him around the room, trying to take in all his instructions.  “Now if you want to bake, or if you’re just cold, you can build a fire in the stove.”  He showed her where to put the wood.  “And there’s always the fireplace.  Wood is stacked outside against the back of the cabin.  I can always bring you more, too.”

He waved at the few kitchen cabinets.  “We’ve stocked the cabinets and the refrigerator but if you need anything, just let me know.”  He headed for the door.  “Water comes from a spring near the front of the island.”

“Wait.  What?”

“Water.  You know, to drink?”

Desperately, Shasta searched the room, making a beeline to the sink.  Instead of a faucet, there was a green-painted old-fashioned hand pump.  She worked the handle a few times and a spurt of water came out.  She looked back to him, bewildered.

“Well, you can’t drink that.  Not without boiling it for about ten minutes.  It comes straight out of the lake.  Use it for dishes and things.  You can drink the spring water right out of the ground.”

“Wait a second.  Where’s the bathroom?”

“I was just going to show you.  Follow me.”

Blake headed out the door and Shasta followed along behind him.  He turned down the right side of the cabin, following a narrow trail through the trees.  Shortly, the path opened onto a small clearing and to the right of the clearing was a tiny log structure.  “Here’s your bathroom,” he pointed.

She began to shake her head.  “Oh, no, no, no, no, no,” she murmured.  “There must be some mistake.  I don’t do outhouses.  Does Eddie know about this?” she demanded.

“Who’s Eddie?” Blake returned, picturing the smarmy suit guy.

“No.  Absolutely not.  This is completely unacceptable.  Besides,” she breathed deeply, trying to regain her composure, “where is the shower?”

“Well, some guests bathe in the lake.”  He took in her incredulous expression and continued.  “On the other hand, we do have a solar shower.  I’ll show you.”

Shasta followed him down the other side of the cabin, to the place where the tiny bedroom jutting out from the main cabin made a little sheltered corner.  A post was situated in the corner with a pulley rigged to the top.

“This is a solar shower.”  Blake held up a large flat rectangular vinyl pouch that was clear on one side and black on the other.  The clear side had a large round valve and there was a handle on one end.  The other end had clear tubing attached and at the end of the tubing was a tiny shower head.

“You fill this up with water, seal the valve, and lay it out in the sun.  The dock is a good place.”  He watched as Shasta held her forehead with the palm of one hand, gaping at him in disbelief.  “Anyway, when you’re ready for a shower, you hang it up here,” he indicated the pulley, “and just shower away.  The spruce trees right here make for privacy, although you shouldn’t have any folks out on the lake, seeing as how you’ve rented out the whole place.”

Wordlessly, Shasta turned and hobbled back to the front of the cabin, sinking into one of the Adirondack chairs.  Blake followed, hands in his pockets, uncertain whether or not to continue the tour.  She glanced up at him, deciding to change tacks.

“Listen,” she smoothed, “we seem to have gotten off on the wrong foot.”  She pasted on her dazzling Shasta Pyke smile.  “Obviously, there’s been some kind of mistake.”  Standing, she approached him, pushing her glasses back up onto her head and fixing him with soft brown eyes.

“Here’s the thing.”  She reached out to stroke his arm, biting her lower lip provocatively.  “I can’t stay here.  And you don’t want me here, not really.  The place is already paid for.  Just,” she stepped closer, brushing her breasts against his arm, “maybe you could drive me someplace where I can get a cab or an Uber or something, and I’ll be out of your hair.”  She wrinkled her nose and winked.  “What do you say?”

A slow smile spread across Blake’s face.  “What do I say?”  He laughed lightly, shaking head.  “I say, you’re a piece of work, lady.”  With that, he turned.  “I’ll leave you to it, then.”

“Wait!” she shouted after him.  “You can’t just leave me here!”

He waved over his head and didn’t turn around.

“Come back here!  You come back here right now!”

Wordlessly, he cast off from the dock and pushed the boat away from the shallow water.

“What about my bags?  They need to be taken to the cabin!”

“And it will be dark soon.  So you might want to get on that,” Blake chuckled.

Shasta was on the dock by now and she stomped her foot, fists balled at her sides.  “Do you know who I am?” she screamed.

“You look to me like a little brat who needs her ass tanned,” he fired back.

She shrieked unintelligibly and threw a rock at the boat.  She missed by a mile and the rock plonked harmlessly into the water.

Blake laughed again, started the engine, and headed back to the lodge.
