Weekend Excerpt–LOST & BOUND

Spoiled Hollywood bad girl Shasta Pyke
is used to getting her own way.
She’s met her match in
Dominant mountain man Blake Walker.

LOST & BOUND, Dream Dominant Book 2, is special to me for several reasons. For one thing, Blake Walker is my first literary Daddy Dom, and I loved getting to know him. He’s strong, sexy, and oh, so protective.

Another reason this book is forever in my heart is the setting. Growing up, I spent many a happy summer vacation in the wilds of northern Ontario, Canada. Writing this book, and the spin-off WARRIOR MINE, Dream Dominant Book 4, allowed me to take a nostalgic trip back to one of my favorite places on earth.

In LOST & BOUND, actress Shasta Pyke gets into trouble with the law in Hollywood so she’s sent to cool her heels for a while in the wilderness of northern Ontario. Bush pilot and former wilderness counselor Blake Walker is none too impressed with the new high profile guest at his family’s remote lodge, but as he spends time with her, he begins to see glimpses of the frightened little girl she hides from the world. Could she be the baby girl his Daddy Dom soul craves?

Here’s a teaser from LOST & BOUND.

Blake expertly angled the small boat to rest beside the tiny dock and killed the motor, tying off his end before jumping out and tying the front end as well.  Then he again offered his hand, helping Shasta climb out of the boat and onto the dock.

She stood taking in the view as he unloaded her things.  The lodge was visible across the water, seemingly closer than it actually was, judging by the ten-minute ride.  If she hadn’t been in such a foul mood, she would have found the place beautiful.  The only sound she could hear was the wind in the tops of the countless pine trees covering the island.  It would be a short climb up to the crest of the island where a log cabin sat.  She could see a stone-surrounded fire pit flanked by a quartet of dark green wooden Adirondack chairs and further away, stretched between two large pines, was a white canvas hammock.

When all her things were on the dock, Blake turned to her.  “Let me take you to the cabin.  There are a few things I need to show you.”

He took off up the hill and Shasta teetered along behind him, carefully avoiding large rocks that were in the way.  “Are you making it?” he called over his shoulder.

“I’ve got this, don’t worry about me,” she muttered.

Blake turned away and grinned to himself.  He was waiting for her when she finally made it up the hill.  “I hope you brought other shoes.”

Out of breath, Shasta put her hands on her hips and nodded.

He unlocked the door and held it open for her to enter the cabin.  She stepped into an open room featuring a seating area in front of a fireplace immediately to her right.  Further into the room, a kitchen was arranged in the back left quarter of the space with a cast iron stove on the back wall and a kitchen table pushed against the right wall down from the fireplace.  Between the fireplace and the kitchen table was a small desk that held some sort of radio equipment.  Shasta peered into an alcove to her left and saw that it was a tiny bedroom.

“Now,” Blake was saying, “the lights run on propane.  You turn this little lever and you can light them with a lighter.  The fridge and the cooktop also run on propane.  Same thing, you turn the knob and then light it with the lighter.  I already lit the pilot on the fridge and it should be fine.”  He indicated a small metal box beneath the kitchen counter.

Wordlessly, Shasta followed him around the room, trying to take in all his instructions.  “Now if you want to bake, or if you’re just cold, you can build a fire in the stove.”  He showed her where to put the wood.  “And there’s always the fireplace.  Wood is stacked outside against the back of the cabin.  I can always bring you more, too.”

He waved at the few kitchen cabinets.  “We’ve stocked the cabinets and the refrigerator but if you need anything, just let me know.”  He headed for the door.  “Water comes from a spring near the front of the island.”

“Wait.  What?”

“Water.  You know, to drink?”

Desperately, Shasta searched the room, making a beeline to the sink.  Instead of a faucet, there was a green-painted old-fashioned hand pump.  She worked the handle a few times and a spurt of water came out.  She looked back to him, bewildered.

“Well, you can’t drink that.  Not without boiling it for about ten minutes.  It comes straight out of the lake.  Use it for dishes and things.  You can drink the spring water right out of the ground.”

“Wait a second.  Where’s the bathroom?”

“I was just going to show you.  Follow me.”

Blake headed out the door and Shasta followed along behind him.  He turned down the right side of the cabin, following a narrow trail through the trees.  Shortly, the path opened onto a small clearing and to the right of the clearing was a tiny log structure.  “Here’s your bathroom,” he pointed.

She began to shake her head.  “Oh, no, no, no, no, no,” she murmured.  “There must be some mistake.  I don’t do outhouses.  Does Eddie know about this?” she demanded.

“Who’s Eddie?” Blake returned, picturing the smarmy suit guy.

“No.  Absolutely not.  This is completely unacceptable.  Besides,” she breathed deeply, trying to regain her composure, “where is the shower?”

“Well, some guests bathe in the lake.”  He took in her incredulous expression and continued.  “On the other hand, we do have a solar shower.  I’ll show you.”

Shasta followed him down the other side of the cabin, to the place where the tiny bedroom jutting out from the main cabin made a little sheltered corner.  A post was situated in the corner with a pulley rigged to the top.

“This is a solar shower.”  Blake held up a large flat rectangular vinyl pouch that was clear on one side and black on the other.  The clear side had a large round valve and there was a handle on one end.  The other end had clear tubing attached and at the end of the tubing was a tiny shower head.

“You fill this up with water, seal the valve, and lay it out in the sun.  The dock is a good place.”  He watched as Shasta held her forehead with the palm of one hand, gaping at him in disbelief.  “Anyway, when you’re ready for a shower, you hang it up here,” he indicated the pulley, “and just shower away.  The spruce trees right here make for privacy, although you shouldn’t have any folks out on the lake, seeing as how you’ve rented out the whole place.”

Wordlessly, Shasta turned and hobbled back to the front of the cabin, sinking into one of the Adirondack chairs.  Blake followed, hands in his pockets, uncertain whether or not to continue the tour.  She glanced up at him, deciding to change tacks.

“Listen,” she smoothed, “we seem to have gotten off on the wrong foot.”  She pasted on her dazzling Shasta Pyke smile.  “Obviously, there’s been some kind of mistake.”  Standing, she approached him, pushing her glasses back up onto her head and fixing him with soft brown eyes.

“Here’s the thing.”  She reached out to stroke his arm, biting her lower lip provocatively.  “I can’t stay here.  And you don’t want me here, not really.  The place is already paid for.  Just,” she stepped closer, brushing her breasts against his arm, “maybe you could drive me someplace where I can get a cab or an Uber or something, and I’ll be out of your hair.”  She wrinkled her nose and winked.  “What do you say?”

A slow smile spread across Blake’s face.  “What do I say?”  He laughed lightly, shaking head.  “I say, you’re a piece of work, lady.”  With that, he turned.  “I’ll leave you to it, then.”

“Wait!” she shouted after him.  “You can’t just leave me here!”

He waved over his head and didn’t turn around.

“Come back here!  You come back here right now!”

Wordlessly, he cast off from the dock and pushed the boat away from the shallow water.

“What about my bags?  They need to be taken to the cabin!”

“And it will be dark soon.  So you might want to get on that,” Blake chuckled.

Shasta was on the dock by now and she stomped her foot, fists balled at her sides.  “Do you know who I am?” she screamed.

“You look to me like a little brat who needs her ass tanned,” he fired back.

She shrieked unintelligibly and threw a rock at the boat.  She missed by a mile and the rock plonked harmlessly into the water.

Blake laughed again, started the engine, and headed back to the lodge.

Weekend Excerpt–Back To The Beginning

I’ve always thought that the best job in the world would involve traveling the world, experiencing different cultures, and seeking adventures in every new city. That’s where the premise for my first-ever book LUKE & BELLA had its beginning.

It became the first book in my Dream Dominant Collection, a series of stand-alone contemporary erotic romance novels featuring sexy Alpha males and the redhaired submissives they can’t resist. There are currently four books in the collection, but at least one more is in the works.

Curious about LUKE & BELLA?

When television reporter Bella Grant is hired to create a brand-new travel show, she believes she’s landed the job of a lifetime. She’s paired up with veteran photojournalist Luke McGillicutty and they head off to their first destination.

Sure, she’s attracted to him, and she’s pretty sure the feeling is mutual, but they’re capable of keeping things professional, right? But with days of touring exciting cities and nights spent in romantic hotels, they fall hard and fast.

So fast, in fact, that Luke hasn’t taken the time to tell Bella the truth about himself. If he tells her now, he could lose her forever.

Here’s a (spoiler alert) snippet from LUKE & BELLA.

The bedside clock blinked 5:12 am.  Bella couldn’t wait any longer.  What little sleep she’d gotten had been fitful, troubled.

She looked over at Luke who was snoring softly and her heart skipped a beat.  She loved him so much.  He’d been kind the night before, not mentioning her breach of protocol, recognizing her need to be at his feet.  After her knee time, he’d taken her to bed, holding her tenderly to his chest, allowing her to let go of her concerns for a short while.  She knew he assumed she was having her period and she hadn’t bothered to correct him.  Plenty of time for that, she thought.

Quietly, she got out of bed and went into the bathroom, carefully closing the door behind her.  She switched on the light and located the brown paper bag she’d gotten from the pharmacy the day before.  Opening the box, she removed the flat plastic stick from its wrapper.  She reread the instructions, then followed them meticulously, knowing she couldn’t bear to get this wrong.  She placed the stick carefully on the counter of the vanity and set the timer on her phone.  Don’t look until the time is up, she instructed herself.  Thirty seconds in she broke her own rule and glanced at the test.  A blue plus sign in the circular window near the end of the stick appeared to her like a neon sign.

Her pulse pounded in her ears.  It does that at first, she thought desperately.  Then the plus disappears when it’s negative.

You know better than that.  She hadn’t heard her father’s condemning voice since she’d left his grave weeks before.  Now he was back, Nathan Epperson Grant, II, as the voice of Reason.

The timer chimed and with a shaky hand she picked up the stick.  The plus sign was still there, only now it was a darker blue.  That’s it, she thought.  I’m…Shit!  She stuffed the test back into the box, the box back into the paper bag, and shoved the whole thing into the drawer of the vanity.

She met her own terror-stricken gaze in the mirror.   I need air, she thought.  I can’t breathe.  Panicked, she hurriedly threw on black yoga pants, a white t-shirt, and a jacket.  Luke didn’t stir as she quietly opened the door and left the room, heading for the hotel lobby.  In the elevator, she realized she hadn’t left him a note.  I’ll be back before he even wakes up, she decided.  Then, we’ll have to talk. She felt nauseated and her eyes filled with tears.

The elevator doors opened to the lobby and she strode purposefully toward the revolving door to outside.

“Good morning!  You’re up early,” she heard a familiar voice say.  It was Ann, one of their dining companions from the previous night.  She and the other women were dressed for the gym.

Bella tried to pull herself together.  “Um, yeah, I was in the mood for a walk,” she replied, smiling brightly.

“Are you alright?” Tanya asked.

“Oh, yes, needed a little air is all,” Bella said.  “I’m just heading out…” she indicated the door.

Tanya spoke quietly to the others, “You go ahead.  I’m going to see what the matter is.”  She followed Bella out into the early morning.

“What’s wrong, Bella?” she asked sympathetically.  “Did you and Luke have a row?”

Bella turned and looked at her in surprise.  “God, no!” Bella answered quickly.  “He’s not even up yet.  It’s nothing, really, just…”

Tanya gave her a quizzical look.

“I’m pregnant,” Bella said quietly, a tear rolling down her cheek.  “I just did the test.”

“Congratulations!  That’s brilliant,” said Tanya.  She hesitated for a moment.  “Isn’t it?”

Bella sighed.  “It’s just so…unplanned.”  She wiped away a tear.  “Luke doesn’t know yet.  I don’t know…”

Tanya put her arm through Bella’s.  “Come.  Let’s go find some tea and have a chat.”

They ended up across the street from the Hotel Miramare, in a tiny cafe, one of the few open so early in the morning.  The historic district was stunning in the light of the sun rising over the water.  Bella sat at a heavy antique wooden table near the front window while Tanya ordered for them at the counter.

She returned to the table shortly with a pot of tea and two cups.  They sipped in silence for a few minutes.

“So you’re having a baby?” Tanya said, breaking into the silence.

Bella breathed deeply.  “Yeah.  I guess so.”

“Or not,” Tanya probed.

Bella looked at her.  “Unplanned as it is, I’m having this baby.  Definitely!” she said determinedly.  “As to whether or not Luke will be involved…” she trailed off.  “He made it pretty clear that he wasn’t interested in marriage.  I can’t think he’d be interested in a baby.  I owe it to him to tell him, I suppose.  But I’m afraid he’ll think I did this on purpose, to trap him or something.”  The tears were back again.

Tanya reached for her hand.  “That man loves you.  He may surprise you, you know.”

Bella was about to reply when her phone rang.  “Speak of the devil,” she said nervously.

Weekend Excerpt–Waffles…With a Side of Drama

A platonic Dom/sub relationship?
It’s a damn odd arrangement.

When I started writing BDSM romance, I wanted to do something different. While I enjoy stories about Dominant billionaires as much as the next girl, I was more interested in exploring the lives of regular everyday couples who live the intimacy of a power-exchange lifestyle.

In FOR SPARROW, Jessi Crenshaw has unexpectedly lost her husband. He was her best friend, her lover, the father of her grown children, and her Dominant.

But it turns out that Graham must have had an inkling that his health might be on the decline. Seems he has asked his friend and protege in the ‘lifestyle,’ firefighter paramedic Judd Farris to look out for Jessi in the event that something should happen to him.

Judd never imagined that he’d have to fulfill the promise he made to his dear friend, but nothing will stop him from completing that mission. He’ll watch over Jessi until she finds a Dominant of her own.

But what if he’d like to be that man?

Here’s an excerpt from FOR SPARROW:

In the quiet of the morning, Jessi poured herself a cup of coffee and sipped carefully. The kids were still asleep, a fact that didn’t surprise her in the least.

Glancing at the clock on the stove, she figured she’d give them another hour or so before she tried to tempt them awake with the smell of homemade waffles.

She heard the slam of a car door out front. That, combined with Buddy’s beeline to the front door, let her know that Judd had arrived. Smiling to herself, she carried her coffee with her, opening the door to let Buddy tear across the lawn to greet his favorite human.

Judd set down his toolbox and stooped to ruffle the puppy’s ears, then stood, grinning broadly. “Good morning, Jessi!”

She felt herself grinning back. “Hi, there. How are you this morning?”

“I’m great. Am I too early?” He frowned slightly.

“Not for me, you’re not. The kids are all still asleep. Can I get you some coffee?”

He nodded. “Coffee sounds great, actually.”

Judd followed Jessi into the kitchen and stood leaning against the center island. “So everybody got in okay?”

“They did. We didn’t get to bed until after 1:00,” she handed him a light blue mug of steaming coffee, “but I woke up about 7:00 and couldn’t sleep anymore.”

He accepted the mug and sipped gratefully. “This is good.”

She smiled at him. “I’m planning on making waffles for breakfast. Are you hungry?”

Judd’s eyes widened. “Waffles? I had a granola bar on my way over, but there’s no way I’d pass up homemade waffles.”

Jessi patted the counter. “Have a seat, then. Waffles are coming right up.”

Judd sank onto one of the high stools and sipped his coffee, watching Jessi expertly measuring ingredients into a large yellow mixing bowl. Soon the aroma of freshly cooked waffles filled the kitchen.

“There you are,” said Jessi, sliding a pair of crispy golden waffles in front of him. “Syrup? I have maple and strawberry.”

“Oh, man, I’m never going to get to that pool pump today.” He laughed as he lifted the bottle of maple syrup and poured a generous helping all over his breakfast.

Jessi sat with him and nibbled on a waffle of her own as they chatted amiably about their week. Soon enough, Judd was finished.

“That was delicious,” he said, carrying his plate to the sink, where he rinsed it and placed it in the dishwasher. “Thank you!”

Jessi blushed slightly. “Oh, it’s just waffles, but I’m glad you liked them.”

“I did. Very much.” He held her gaze for a moment. “Well, off to the pool pump, then.”

“Thanks so much, Judd. I’ll send Adam out there after he eats.”

From the back door, Judd waved, and headed out to the pool deck.

Jessi stood watching him through the window, Buddy snuffling around his feet as he set to work. She smiled to herself, happy to have Judd there at her house.

“Ummm, what smells so good?”

She turned at the sleepy voice of her son. “Good morning, sweetie.” Crossing the kitchen, she hugged him tightly, kissing his cheek. “Are you hungry?”

“For your famous waffles? Always!” Adam claimed the stool recently vacated by Judd.

As Jessi ladled more batter onto the waffle iron, Adam’s brow furrowed. “Um, Mom? There’s a guy out by the pool.”

She glanced out the window. “Oh, that’s Judd. He’s working on the pool pump. I told him you could help him in a while.”

“Sure,” he shrugged, taking a bite of his breakfast.

Cara came down the stairs followed closely by Trevor. Both were dressed in shorts and casual shirts, ready for the day.

“Good morning, you two. Did you sleep okay?” Jessi asked, dropping more batter onto the hot appliance.

“Hi, Mommy,” Cara murmured as she sank onto a stool beside her brother. She yawned sleepily.

“I slept great, Mrs. Crenshaw, thanks. And something smells delicious,” Trevor added as he sat beside Cara.

“Good, I’m glad. I thought I’d do a homemade breakfast this morning. Maybe we can go to brunch tomorrow before you leave.”

She eyed the three of them. “So, what plans do you have for the day? It looks like a perfect beach day. You can pack a lunch and take it up to Juno. It’s breezy, so there might be kiteboarders today.”

Jessi noticed that Adam and Trevor both looked to Cara uneasily. Cara sat up straight. “Well, Mom,” she hesitated.

Suspicious, Jessi narrowed her eyes, crossing her arms and leaning back against the counter.

Cara cleared her throat and continued. “We wanted to talk about Dad’s stuff.”

“Dad’s stuff?”

Cara nodded. “His clothes and tools and things. You haven’t started doing anything with them yet?”

Jessi sighed. “No. I haven’t packed up Dad’s things.”

“That’s why we’re here. I figured you hadn’t done it yet. That’s what we’re going to do today.” Cara’s face, so precisely a mix of Graham’s and Jessi’s own, was determined.

Feeling panic rising, Jessi took a slow breath. “No. We’re not packing your dad’s things today. If that’s the only reason you came home this weekend, you’re going to be disappointed. I will pack up your father’s belongings when I’m ready to do it, and not a moment before.”

“Look, Mother,” Cara slid off the stool and came around the island toward Jessi. Her short auburn hair hinted at her stubbornness as her light blue eyes glinted sharply. “It’s been long enough. You have to let go. I read an article, and…”

“I don’t care what you read, you do not decide for me when to get rid of my husband’s belongings.” Jessi knew her voice was getting louder and she didn’t care. Adam and Trevor looked like they wanted to crawl into a hole.

“Denial! It’s called denial. Dad’s dead. And hanging onto his things won’t bring him back!”

Adam, ever the peacemaker, tried to intervene. “Maybe we should just drop it, Cara.”

“Shut up, Adam!” she snapped.

“It’s not denial, it’s a process. I’ll clean out his things when I’m ready. Don’t push me on this, Cara!”

Outside, his focus on the inner workings of the pool pump, Judd became aware of raised voices. Glancing up, he could see Jessi and her daughter squaring off in the kitchen. He gnawed his lower lip thoughtfully. It really wasn’t his business. But his position was to protect Jessi.

Even from her kids? He debated another moment before setting down the wrench in his hand and heading to the kitchen door.

“Someone has to, Mother. Someone has to help you when you can’t seem to help yourself.”

“Everything okay in here, Jessi?” Judd’s tone suggested quiet authority.

Cara whirled around. “And who in the hell is this?!” Dramatically, she flung her hand in Judd’s direction.

Judd started to answer. “I’m…”

“What the fuck makes you think you can come into my house and speak to my guests like that?!” Jessi shrieked.

The kitchen fell silent. Neither Adam nor Cara had ever heard their mother use profanity. Eyes wide and mouths open, they both stared at Jessi.

She took a calming breath and continued softly. “This is Judd. He’s a friend of your father’s, and he’s here today fixing the pool pump.” She met Judd’s eyes with a grateful look.

Adam recovered first. Proffering a hand, he introduced himself. “Hi, man. I’m Adam, that’s my sister, Cara, and this is Cara’s boyfriend, Trevor.”

Judd nodded to them all. “Nice to meet you.” He looked to Adam and Trevor. “Gentlemen, maybe you can help me out back while the ladies sort this out, what do you say?”

“Sure thing,” Trevor answered, glad to have an excuse to scuttle out of the line of fire.

New From Linzi Basset–Stone: Master Eagle

CASTLE SIN
Seven Masters
Seven Dungeons
Seven Times the Kink

STONE: MASTER EAGLE

“I should warn you, Master Eagle, I bite and have been known to scratch.”

Peyton Jackson was a Pulitzer Prize winning investigative journalist, the best in her field, but in Castle Sin, she was known only as Sub PJ.

Peyton had stayed away from the ocean for a reason, yet there she was, on a remote island in Key West, surrounded by the sea, gazing at the majestic castle meant to become her home … at least, that’s what she made the seven Masters believe … In reality, she was there for only one reason: to get her cousin off the island.

One unexpected perk … or detriment … was that it placed her directly in the sights of her biggest celeb crush. In contrast to finding herself wanting to please her Master at every turn, she also smelled a story, a scoop … and she had every intention of taking advantage to find out exactly what went on inside the walls of Castle Sin.

Until she awoke the Beast inside the King of the Castle.

“And it’s going to be such a pleasure to make you crawl and beg,” he promised in a deep growl. “As meek as a little kitten.”

He was known as Stone Rothman in Hollywood … Stone Sinclair to his family … and Master Eagle to everyone else in Castle Sin

A powerful Master, a compassionate man, and a hungry and demanding Beast created the enigma that was Stone Sinclair.

Trust and honesty were paramount in every aspect of his life and he expected the same from those surrounding him. As the king of his castle, it took a lot to crack his armor … but this time she had peeved him off.  She was one of the trainees who had applied to be a submissive at Castle Sin … and she was a fake. A liar and an impostor. Two traits this powerful Master had no patience for.

The moment he laid eyes on the tall redhead, the Beast inside his soul began to stir. She was a deceiver, and he was going to enjoy transforming her into exactly what she’d applied for.

A submissive … his submissive.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to both of them, a conspiracy threatened to yank their entire existence apart. It endangered not only their lives, but spelled disaster for the entire nation, and Peyton was forced into an impossible situation she had no way to get out of.

With lies and lust and fear at war inside her, helpless to fight the domination of the Master and his Beast, she attempted to find a solution … but no matter what she did, there was only one way it all would end.

With Stone Sinclair hating her.

Editor’s Note:

Stone will make you want to go out and apply to all the local BDSM clubs in the hopes of finding your very own Master Eagle. A few snippets

✨✨✨✨

“Keep doing that, little one and you’ll be on your back with your legs spread wide, getting f@cked like a b!tch in heat more times than you can count.”

✨✨✨✨

“The next ones are going to sting even more if you don’t continue, sub,” he grated darkly. He had difficulty suppressing his smile at the mutinous expression on her face. She was feisty. The challenge she represented grew exponentially … along with the tumescence that caused the space at the crotch of his jeans to shrink.

✨✨✨✨

The Beast purred and clawed at his chest to be released at the expression on her face. It fed the sad!st in him, the need to completely f@ck with a sub’s mind until she became lost in a whirlpool of confused emotions; helpless to fight the sensations he’d teach her to crave—all fed by him—him and him alone.

✨✨✨✨

“Female wiles will get you nowhere, nor will a bratty attitude, except to either be whipped black and blue or f@cked until you pass out. Either way … choose. Now.”

✨✨✨✨

“I should warn you, Master Eagle, I bite and have been known to scratch,” she lilted in a sensual purr.

“I’ve always been rather fond of little kittens.” His long arms reached easily over the table to pinch her nipples, smiling as she gasped and bit her lip. “And it’s going to be such a pleasure to make you crawl and beg,” he promised in a deep growl. “As meek as a little kitten.

Weekend Excerpt–LUKE & BELLA

LUKE & BELLA is Dream Dominant Book 1, and it’s where it all began for me. It’s the first book I ever published, so in many ways, it’s a sentimental favorite. It’s about an ace television reporter and a veteran photographer who are thrown together to create a new television travel program. Traveling the world, finding adventure at every turn, is it any wonder they fall in love?

I orginally started writing it just for myself. Then I began posting a chapter at a time on Tumblr, and much to my surprise, it gained quite a following. Shout out to Kinky Tinkerbella, LOL!

About halfway through, I stopped writing for a while, only to pick it up much later, and I posted it chapter by chapter here on WordPress until it was finished. By then, I’d met many writers who self-published their work and I started thinking, why not?

The Dream Dominant Collection, a series of stand-alone contemporary erotic romance novels featuring light BDSM themes, is now four books strong. In addition to LUKE & BELLA, there is LOST & BOUND, 2018 Golden Flogger Award Winner FOR SPARROW, and WARRIOR MINE. At least one more book is planned, hopefully to be released in 2020.

For now, here’s a little snippet from the book that started it all.

While Luke showered, Bella went online to make hotel reservations for their next destination. Never a fan of huge corporate places, she located a nice boutique hotel near the city center. Still feeling a bit sheepish about her little tantrum when they arrived in Scotland, she debated over reserving one room or two.

Obviously we want the best suite or suites available. Does the nicest suite really have to have that name? Bella sighed in exasperation.
The cheeky part of her smirked in delight. What should I do? she wondered. One room or two?

This is not how you were raised, her father’s voice reprimanded sternly.
Her finger wavered over the touch pad.

“All yours, m’lady,” announced Luke, startling her and causing her to jump.
He’s always doing that, she thought.

You’re too jumpy, her cheeky self said. You know what’s good for that…
Bella shook her head and clicked, her decision made. “Great! I’ll try to be quick,” she said.

“Take your time,” he smiled, heading out onto the terrace in his bathrobe to smoke a cigar.

Bella hurried anyway, anxious to get on with the evening. Why did I agree to a ‘date’? she wondered.

Cheeky self was quick to answer: You know exactly why.

Her father’s voice was harsh: This will not end well.

“Oh, shut up,” she said aloud.

After showering, she quickly did her hair and make-up, dressing at last in a form-fitting sleeveless black sheath with sheer lace at the neckline.

Checking herself in the mirror she decided that she looked decent enough. She wondered what Luke would wear, smiling as she imagined the two of them entering the award winning restaurant, she in semi-formal attire and he in the khaki cargo pants and chambray shirt he seemed to favor.

Handsome, yes, but not appropriate for the occasion. Maybe she should suggest another restaurant. Hmm…

“All ready,” she called out as she opened the bedroom door. Luke wasn’t in the sitting room. She walked out onto the terrace but he wasn’t there, either. She looked around.

You always were stupid, her father’s voice condemned. You gave him what he wanted. Now he’s at McTavish’s, laughing at you.

Bella’s heart sank. He’s ditched me, she thought, feeling foolish. Why would he want to go out with me anyway? Threatened tears stung her eyes and the sudden lump in her throat felt as big as a pineapple.

A knock at the door broke into her thoughts. Bella cautiously opened it to find Luke standing in the hallway, mischievous smile on his face and a bouquet of pink and white roses in his hand. He was stunning in a black suit, crisp white shirt, and a black silk tie.

“Good evening, m’lady,” he said. “I’m here to pick you up for our dinner date.”
She was too surprised to say anything but she stepped back to let him in the room.

“You look beautiful, by the way,” he said as he walked past her.

“Um, thanks, so do you,” she stammered. “I mean…” she laughed lightly, dabbing at the corner of her eye with her pinky finger. “Where in the world did you get that suit?”

He turned and hit her with a dazzling smile. “I keep it in my ghetto luggage,” he smirked. “Because a guy never knows when he might wanna get all gussied up.”

She laughed again. “Well, you look really…nice.”

“I brought you these,” he said, gesturing with the roses.

“They’re so pretty, thanks!” she replied, blushing. “You didn’t have to, really, I mean…It’s a super nice thought, it’s sweet, actually, but like I said before, I don’t have any expectations, just because…you know…” she trailed off, trying to interpret the meaning of the look on his face.

Luke smiled patiently waiting for her to finish speaking. “They’re just flowers, Bella,” he said softly. He found a glass pitcher and put them in water. “Are you ready?” he asked.

“Yes, ready,” she answered.

As soon as they were seated at a table for two at Hadrian’s, Luke ordered a bottle of sauvignon blanc. They ordered the shellfish bisque for their starter. For their main course Luke had the filet and Bella, the salmon. After the waiter left them, she looked at him across the flickering candle in the center of the table. Luke winked at her and her breath caught in her chest.

I can’t understand this effect he has on me, she thought.

“You really do look beautiful,” he said. “The candlelight and your hair…” he just smiled.

She could feel herself blushing. “You’re sweet,” she deflected.

“I’m truthful. Always,” he said firmly.

Their wine arrived and Bella was grateful for the distraction. The sommelier poured and left, and they sipped appreciatively.

“So…you were married a long time ago to a douche bag,” Luke summed up. “You never took the plunge again? Never even other long-term relationships?”

Bella sipped and shook her head. “No, I was too glad to get out of that mess. I’ve dated some, but never felt serious about anyone. I think I run guys off.”

Luke laughed.

“No really! I’m particular and I work all the time…if there’s overtime to be had, I’m the one who asks for it. I’d rather keep busy than have down time.”

She sipped again. “There was this stalker once,” she admitted. He looked at her across the table, concerned. “It was kind of bad,” she continued. “This was in Asheville. I met him in a bar, and, well…It became obvious that going out with him was a mistake. Turns out he met me on purpose. I ended up filing a restraining order. The station had to hire extra security. I was working the 11:00 show, always coming home around midnight.”

She paused, watching his reaction. “I got home one night and, I know this sounds weird, but something felt off. Maybe it was that my front mat was just a little crooked, I don’t know. Anyway, I turned around, got back in my car, and called the cops. They found the guy in my bedroom, under my bed, naked.”

“Holy shit, Bella!” Luke gasped. “I’d kill a motherfucker…”

“Yeah, that was a little freaky,” she said quietly. “He went to jail, of course. I got out of Asheville as quickly as I could.”

Dinner arrived and their conversation slowed as they enjoyed their food. After a few moments, Bella ventured, “Now the former Mrs. McGillicutty…Did she get tired of your being gone all the time?”

“Um, no, she got tired of being poor all the time,” he replied. “She went and found a sugar daddy.”

“You’re kidding,” Bella said. “She left you over money?”

“Yep, that’s it exactly,” he said ruefully.

Bella shook her head. “That’s the craziest thing I ever heard,” she said thoughtfully.

“Says the Ivy League debutante,” Luke said softly.

She gave him a sharp look. “I’m just saying, if I found a great guy, money wouldn’t even enter into it,” she said decisively.

“A great guy, huh?” he smirked, knowing he’d be rewarded with another stunning blush. He was not disappointed.

“Oh, you know what I’m saying,” she stammered.

Boldly, Bella countered. “How about you? Besides your marriage, did you have other long-term relationships?”

Luke set down his fork for a moment. “Well, I went right into a five-year relationship after my divorce. Big mistake, but at the time I’d lost my confidence, so…”

Bella looked at him sympathetically. Luke continued, “It was a bad situation I should have ended much sooner than I did. Hell,” he chuckled, “it was a situation I should never have started, but you live and learn. Then, shortly before I retired, I was with a woman for about two years. She left me for an eighty-year-old man.”

He laughed at Bella’s shocked expression. “He had money. What can I say?”

“Again with the money,” Bella murmured, shaking her head.

They continued enjoying their meal, moving their conversation toward the work they’d done and away from their personal stories.

During dessert, after a pause in conversation, Luke voiced, “So, you’re really not telling me where we’re going tomorrow?”

Bella smiled. “Nope.”

Weekend Excerpt–Making Out Old-School

She was the perfect combination of princess and warrior.

After the release of LOST & BOUND, Dream Dominant Book 2, some readers were interested in hearing the story of two supporting characters. Jackie Walker, sister of Blake from Lost & Bound, and Scott Nielsen, Blake’s best friend, were clearly in a relationship by the end of that book, and people wanted to know the steamy details.

So I wrote WARRIOR MINE, Jackie and Scott’s story. Jackie is a tough single mom, working hard to run the remote Canadian guest lodge that has been in her family for generations. When her brother’s friend Scott shows up one day hoping to base his new wilderness survival school at Lake Miranda Lodge, Jackie is immediately attracted to the tall nordic outdoorsman. And he likes her, too.

But he’s Dominant. Is there any way this fierce, independent woman will gift him with her submission?

Here’s a teaser from WARRIOR MINE:

Forty-five minutes later, they drove into Fairson, the next town north of Eliot Lake. As they drove past darkened shop windows, Scott glanced at Jackie, enjoying the fact that she had no idea where they were going. Just outside the town limits, Scott turned onto a small road leading out through the forest.

Before long, they came to a place where the countryside opened onto a broad field beside a small lake. Rows of vehicles were parked in the field, facing a large inflatable screen. Jackie’s expression was quizzical.

Scott had to laugh. “I saw a flyer in Manitoulin today. I couldn’t resist.”
They drove through the gate and followed instructions to the next open space, where Scott backed in.

“You’ll never guess what they’re showing tonight,” he said as he opened his door. “Stay right there, I’ll come around.”

Pleased that she did as she was told, Scott opened Jackie’s door with a flourish. “My lady?” Jackie accepted his hand and allowed him to help her out of the truck.

From behind the seat, he retrieved the black duffel bag, then closed the door.

“Are you going to tell me what they’re showing?” Jackie asked.

“Nope.” With a smug grin, he led her to the back of the truck, where he lowered the tailgate. He unzipped the bag and removed a wool blanket with a large red and black plaid pattern. With a shake, he unfurled the blanket in the truck bed.

He hoisted himself up, then helped Jackie climb up, too. They settled, leaning against the truck’s cab. From the bag, Scott produced a bottle of white wine and a pair of plastic wine glasses. Jackie held the glasses as he poured.

"And if you'll hold mine for just a second..." Scott reached into the bag, this time withdrawing a bag of popcorn. This he placed between them.

"One last thing," he said, holding up a finger. He took a small black device from the outer pocket of the bag. "FM receiver," he said.

"You thought of everything, didn't you?" Jackie observed. He gave her a wink. "I wanted to impress you."

She sipped her wine and smiled, gazing out over the field. Scott wondered what she was thinking.

Beyond the crowd at the end of the field, the screen lit up and the opening credits began to play. Scott watched Jackie carefully.

She gasped lightly. “The Birds!”

Scott grinned. “See? When I found out, I couldn’t resist.”

**

As flocks of homicidal avians descended on Bodega Bay, Scott rested his arm on the back of the truck’s cab with Jackie nestled against him. Though he was as much a Hitchcock fan as the next guy, he couldn’t have cared less about the movie. Having his arm around Jackie drew his thoughts in a completely different direction.

With his middle finger, he drew lazy circles on her exposed shoulder and watched as she kept her eyes on the movie screen and pretended to ignore the goose bumps that appeared on her arms. He leaned down to press soft kisses where he’d drawn circles, lingering to drag his goatee across her skin. When she finally looked up at him, he fixed her with a heated gaze, watching as she unconsciously caught her lower lip between her teeth.

Lowering his head, he stopped just short of touching his lips to hers. He heard her breath hitch and watched as she closed her eyes and parted her lips just slightly. Then he dipped his head, accepting her invitation, claiming her mouth. Jackie let out a low moan and Scott increased his intensity as they slid down onto the blanket.

His hand resting on her hip, he slowly drew it up her side, pausing to cup her right breast, the one he’d glimpsed that night when she’d come to him. Easily, he located her pert nipple, capturing it between his thumb and forefinger. Jackie broke their kiss to gasp as he pulled it taut. He gazed down at her, assessing the heat in her eyes before renewing his assault on her lips.

Captured once again by his kiss, Jackie slid her hand between them to stroke the rigid shaft held hostage by his jeans, and this time, it was Scott who moaned. Knowing better than to let her tempt his cock for much longer, he gently slid her hand around to his ass, while he eased his knee between her thighs, parking it against her sex. He felt the heat there as she ground against him.

Determined to keep a cool head, Scott slowly began to pull back, shifting to light kisses along the side of her neck and returning his knee to a more neutral perch, gradually bringing them back to their surroundings. Straightening their clothes, they were still catching their breath as the movie ended.

Weekend Excerpt–Skinnydipping

When spoiled Hollywood bad girl Shasta Pyke gets into trouble with the law, she’s sent to cool her heels for a while in the wilderness of northern Ontario. That’s where she meets Dominant mountain man Blake Walker.

Blake’s none to impressed with the sole VIP guest at his family’s remote wilderness lodge. But as he and Shasta spend time together, he begins to see the frightened little girl she hides from the world. And that stirs his Daddy Dom soul.

Is it possible that the Shasta Pyke is the baby girl he’s been looking for?

Here’s a teaser from LOST & BOUND, Dream Dominant Book 2:

When Shasta finally woke up the following morning, she felt worlds better. And she was famished. Donning a pair of jeans, a Joan Jett t-shirt, and a hot pink hoodie, she made her way once again to the kitchen cabinets. She moved around a few boxes and jars as she looked through the provisions, finding a thin rectangular blue box. Macaroni and cheese. A slow smile spread across her face.

Many years ago, she’d done a commercial for the stuff. Of course, when you make a commercial, you can’t actually eat the product. After every take, she’d been required to spit it into a bucket. But it had tasted good, and when she’d told her grandfather about it, he’d made her a box of her very own. She remembered it being one of the best things she’d ever tasted.

Shasta wasn’t a cook. She couldn’t remember ever cooking anything for herself beyond warming up left-over pizza. Turning over the box, she quickly read the instructions. “How hard can this be?”

Following the directions step by step, she lit the stove top and put a pot of water on to boil. Unsure if she could cook with the lake water, she used the spring water just to be on the safe side, realizing that she’d have to make a trip to the spring sooner than she’d anticipated.

When the allotted time had elapsed, she drained the macaroni and stirred in the milk and butter from the tiny fridge. Then she tore open the foil packet and poured it over the mixture. “Orange powder? What the hell?”

She stirred and stirred until most of the lumps had disappeared, then sat down at the table to eat right out of the pot. She took her first bite and her eyes rolled back in her head. “Oh, my God, this is so good!” she moaned around a mouthful.

After she’d eaten as much as she wanted, she put the rest into a plastic container she found and placed it in the fridge. Holding the empty pot, she looked around for the best way to clean it. She finally settled on filling it with lake water and putting in back on to boil, dripping a few drops of dishwashing liquid into it for good measure.

When the pot was cleaned, dried, and returned to its hook on the wall, Shasta stripped out of the hoodie and wandered outside. The sun was bright overhead and the sky was a brilliant blue. She closed her eyes and listened to the breeze rustling in the tops of the trees, breathing in the scent of pine straw warmed by the sun. Opening her eyes, she shook her head. Under different circumstances, this would be an amazingly beautiful place.

Carefully, she picked her way down the slope to the dock and walked to the edge. The water was crystal clear and she could see huge boulders and the ghosts of long-ago fallen trees resting on the bottom of the lake. A light breeze rippled the water in a mesmerizing way, and she stood for a moment feeling a sense of peace settling over her.

When she looked up, she saw movement across the lake. Someone was walking along the water’s edge. Blake. Has to be. Everyone else left yesterday. He stopped and seemed to be looking her way. She sighed, remembering their last exchange, when she’d screamed and thrown a rock at him. “Sometimes, you are such an idiot,” she muttered to herself.

She watched him for a moment, watched him watching her. She wished he would come over. Shouldn’t he check on me? I’m a guest. The only guest right now. I mean, what if I needed something?

She sat on the dock, removed her shoes, and rolled up the legs of her jeans, dangling her feet in the cool of the lake. The sun was hot and the water felt good. She realized that once again, she’d failed to get her solar shower going. There probably wasn’t enough time for the water to heat up now.

Of course, I could always go for a swim. It would do until I can get the hang of this shower thing. She grinned mischievously in Blake’s direction. Maybe she could entice him to come over.

Giving an exaggerated stretch, she pulled the t-shirt up over her head and dropped it on the dock. Then she stood, shimmying out of the jeans, placing them on top of the shirt. She flicked a quick glance back across to water to make sure he was still watching and turned to reach behind her and unhook her bra.

Topless, she turned back towards the lodge. Blake was still there. Slowly, she hooked her thumbs into the top of her white lace panties and slid them down her legs, kicking them off to rest with her other clothes.

At the edge of the dock, she paused to smooth her fingers through her hair before executing a shallow dive, surfacing a dozen yards from the dock. Treading water, she turned herself toward the lodge. Blake was walking away from the lake in the direction of the main lodge.

“Well, shit,” she muttered to herself. “Maybe he’s gay.”

She swam until she felt cool and clean, then climbed back onto the dock. The sun felt good on her skin, so she stretched out on her back and dozed.

*****

Blake woke up that morning feeling slightly guilty for not checking in on Shasta the previous day. It was odd that she hadn’t had lights on since she’d arrived. He couldn’t shake the feeling that she was trying to play him, though. He figured he’d get on with a few of his chores and keep an eye out for her. He could always head over in the afternoon if he still didn’t see any sign of her on the island.

He busied himself with checking the guest cabins, making notes of repairs he could begin making over the next few weeks. He’d just finished with the last cabin and was thinking about stopping for lunch when he glanced across the lake and saw her. She was standing on the dock apparently watching the water. Immediately, he felt a sense of relief. At least she hadn’t asphyxiated herself in the night.

Making his way towards his cabin, he took the route along the edge of the lake rather than the central path. Now she was sitting on the dock, with her feet in the water. He stopped to watch her, wondering what she’d been doing up until now.

Maybe trying to rig her phone to work, he chuckled to himself. He realized she’d noticed him and thought to wave, but at that moment she stood and removed her top. Then she performed a striptease, dropping her clothing item by item onto the dock. Even from this distance, he could appreciate the curves of her tits and hips, offset by her narrow waist. Dumbfounded, he watched as she wiggled out of her panties and paused seductively on the edge of the dock before plunging into the water.

He shook his head, willing his cock to go back to sleep. Nope, I’m not biting, princess. He turned and made his way back to his place.

Weekend Excerpt–A TASTE OF SUBMISSION

It’s gonna be a long, HOT summer!

A TASTE OF SUBMISSION comes out Tuesday, June 11!
And it’s FREE!

12 of the hottest romance authors around are giving you the first book in their BDSM series. It’s a ‘thank you’ to all our loyal readers, and an introduction to readers we haven’t met yet.

I’m joined by C.P, Mandara, Felicity Brandon, Golden Angel, Kallypso Masters, Lilah E. Noir, Linzi Basset, Nia Farrell, Normandie Alleman, Ree L. Diehl, Renee Rose, and Skye Callahan.

My contribution to this collaboration is LUKE & BELLA, Book 1 of my Dream Dominant Collection. When television journalist Bella Grant lands the job of a lifetime, she’s paired with veteran news photographer Luke McGillicutty to create a new television travel show. Traveling to romantic cities, finding adventure at every turn, it’s no wonder they fall in love. But Luke hasn’t been completely honest with Bella. If he tells her now, he could lose her forever. Can he risk everything on the chance they could have it all?

Here’s a little sample…

They explored their way through the Amsterdam evening, shooting video here and there, stopping now and then to check footage or to look into a shop window. As Bella stood peering at the display in the window of an antique shop, Luke watched her, amazed once again at her simple beauty. He slipped an arm around her waist, pulling her to him. She looked up at him, smiling and stood on her tiptoes to plant a light kiss on his lips.

“Amsterdam is lovely, m’lady,” he said. “But I’m looking at you and thinking about being back at the hotel.”

She blushed slightly. “What are you thinking about the hotel, Cowboy?” she asked.

“I’m not sure whether or not you noticed,” he said kissing the corner of her mouth, “but there’s a big old tub in the bathroom.”

“Is there?” she asked innocently. “Are you feeling dirty?”

He grinned wickedly. “I’m feeling all kinds of dirty, m’lady.” She giggled softly. “God, I love that!” he growled.

“What?” she asked, genuinely confused.

“I love when you laugh,” he replied.

Bella rolled her eyes, laughing self-consciously.

They made their way back to The Toren, holding hands and talking quietly about nothing in particular. Once back in the suite, Luke smiled and said, “Someone thoughtfully sent a bottle of Scotch.”

Bella bowed theatrically. “That was thoughtful, wasn’t it?” she laughed.

“Would m’lady care for some wine?” he asked, grinning.

“I’d love some wine,” she answered. “How about you call for some and I’ll get the bath started?”

“I knew we made a great team,” he laughed. “Division of labor.”

Bella retreated to the bedroom as he picked up the phone. She started the bath water, tossing in some of the lavender bath beads, then returned to the bedroom to retrieve candles from her trunk and she placed them around the bathroom, lighting them. Finally, she stripped down and donned her pink satin robe.

When she returned to the sitting room, the steward who brought the wine was just leaving. Luke turned and saw her, letting out a long low breath. “Wow,” he said. He poured a glass of wine for her and one of Scotch for himself. “To a beautiful lady,” he toasted.

She crossed the room and put her arms around his neck. He put down the glasses and pulled her to him, kissing her lips, cupping her breast through the silky fabric.

“Hey, Cowboy,” she breathed into his kiss.

He reached down and untied the sash of her robe, allowing it to hang open, just revealing the inside curve of her breasts, her smooth belly, the V shape of her sex with its light swath of red hair. “Damn, girl, you take my breath away,” he whispered.

She shrugged her shoulders and the robe fell to the floor. “Come on, Cowboy,” she whispered back, turning to walk back to the bedroom.

He carried their drinks as he followed her into the bedroom, appreciating the view of her from behind. She turned and, pulling him to her by the front of his shirt, and kissed him deeply. Then she unbuttoned his shirt and helped him off with it. She stepped back to watch him undo his pants and step out of them. Taking his hand again she led him into the bathroom.

He held on to her as she stepped into the bath and then followed, sitting behind her, leaning against the back of the tub. She sat between his legs and eased back against him, sipping her wine, letting out a long sigh. This was exactly where she wanted to be. She rested her head back on his shoulder.

Luke drank in the feeling of her wrapped in himself, the sensuality of the moment; the warm water, the candlelight, the scent of the bath blending with her fading perfume, her soft skin, the contented smile on her face, the glow of her hair, her breasts, her nipples begging to be kissed.

He kissed her neck, just below the ear and slowly moved his hands down her body, stopping to fondle her breasts, to tug gently on her nipples causing them to harden and stretch. He gently parted her legs, finding her soft sex and softly he caressed her there.

She responded with a low, deep moan, pressing herself against his hand, begging for more pressure. He continued stroking her before sliding in first one finger then two, beginning a slow deliberate circle inside her. Feeling her release building, Bella gasped and moaned again. “Let go, babe. Lose yourself,” he hissed. “Come in my hand.” Orgasm thundered through her body starting in that small secret place and radiating from there as she cried out in release.

She took a moment to catch her breath, and then turned in the tub to face him. She moved onto his lap facing him, wrapping her legs around his waist, and reached down to stroke his erection, kissing him roughly as she did. She felt his gasp in her kiss and she moved closer, raising herself higher before sliding down to sheath him.

He began to move his hips and she matched the rhythm of his movements, clenching him with herself as she moved up and down. A low growl escaped from deep in his chest and he gripped her, holding her firmly in place, burying himself deep inside her. She began to moan as once again she neared climax, crying out as her body shattered with pleasure. He finished with a loud cry, “Unh, God, baby…” Afterward, he held her tightly, gently stroking her back, kissing her forehead.

Later, after they’d toweled off and slipped into bed, Luke watched as she fell asleep in his arms. He thought about the first time he saw her, red curls all sunlit, and he smiled as he remembered her nervous introduction. “I’m Bella. Isabella. Just Bella,” she’d stammered.

“I love you, Bella, Isabella,” he whispered. In her sleep, Bella smiled. He watched her until dreams overtook him.

Weekend Excerpt–WARRIOR MINE

She’s the perfect combination of princess and warrior.

Single mom Jackie Walker has her hands full, raising two kids while running her family’s remote wilderness guest lodge. She’s thankful to have the help of her younger brother Blake, who moved back to Lake Miranda when her unfaithful husband left her and the kids high and dry.

When Blake’s best friend Scott Nielsen shows up at the lodge, Jackie finds herself attracted to the tall Nordic outdoorsman. She’s excited that he wants to base his new wilderness school at Lake Miranda. But could he want more than she’s willing to give?

Here’s an excerpt from WARRIOR MINE, Dream Dominant Book 4.

Jackie shifted, her eyes blinking open. Misty grey light filtered in from outside. A large log beam loomed overhead, the underside of a wooden roof rising to a peak above it.

The cabin. I must have dozed off.

Beside her, Scott, eyes still closed, turned to his side, reaching to gather her to his chest. “Good morning, beautiful,” he murmured.

“Hi.” Her voice was soft, and she pressed little kisses to his collarbone.

“I think we fell asleep.” His bleary eyes were half open.

Jackie nodded. “It’s getting light. I need to go deal with breakfast.”

Scott inhaled deeply. “I was just wishing you could stay a little longer.”

She lightly kissed his jawline. “Me, too, but hungry guests will be up soon.” She slid out from beneath the blankets and tiptoed across the room to pick up the dress she’d discarded the night before.

With a content smile playing on his lips, Scott propped himself on one elbow and watched as she slid the straps over her arms and buttoned the dress. “I could watch that all day.”

Jackie rolled her eyes. “Unfortunately, there’s work to be done. Plus, won’t the workers be here in a few hours?”

“I’m sure they wouldn’t mind either,” he chuckled. Jackie shot him a look, and he laughed harder. “Hang on, Princess, I’ll walk you down to the dock.

When he tossed aside the blanket, Jackie took full advantage of the view. The cabin had been dark the previous night, and she’d been bent over the stove anyway, so she hadn’t had the opportunity to take in the masterpiece that was Scott’s body.

Her eyes naturally traveled to his semi-erect cock. He’d apparently awakened with morning wood, and she thought it was a pity they didn’t have the time to take advantage. She knew that last night, he’d filled her completely and then some, and in the light of day, he was as well-hung as she’d imagined.

As he leaned over to step into his jeans, she watched his firm bare ass, knowing she wanted another opportunity to explore his body. Jeans up and zipped, he turned to find his shirt, giving her the chance to appreciate his muscular back. Broad shoulders at the top, it angled to a trim waist before a slight flair of ass.

Lowering his shirt, he turned, giving her a brief glimpse of nicely defined abs before the blue fabric fell. His eyes smoldered. “You were watching me.”

She felt herself blush slightly, and she nodded. “I was.” She raised her chin slightly, feeling cheeky. “I’d do it again.”

His chuckle was more of a growl. “We’ll have to make that happen.”

She crossed to him, wrapping her arms around his neck. He leaned down to meet her, pressing his lips to hers, taking the opportunity to slide his hands down her back and grope her bare ass beneath the dress.

Reluctantly, she stepped back, sighing. “I really need to go.”

Hand in hand, they walked down the slope to the dock. The glass-like lake was shrouded in early morning fog, and although the sky was lightening, the sun had yet to peek up over the eastern horizon. From down the lake, a loon trilled a lonely call.

“What are your plans for tonight?” Scott asked as he helped her into the boat.

She shrugged slightly, but her stomach performed a little flip. “I don’t really have any plans.”

“Good,” he winked. “How do you feel about Round 2?”

A tingle began in her nether regions and spread from there, and she couldn’t stop her smile. “That sounds great.”

He nodded, pushing her boat away from the dock. “Alright, then, it’s settled. I’ll be over later with the details.”

She gave a little wave and pressed the start button on the electric motor. As she headed across the lake in the hush of early morning, Jackie felt enveloped by a warm glow she was almost certain would show, if anyone was around to see it. Furtively, she glanced up at the lodge’s back deck and was surprised to see someone there watching her.

She squinted, trying to make out who it was. The red hair was a dead giveaway. Amy? Seriously?

When she arrived at the mainland and looked back, Scott was still standing on the island dock. She waved again, and he waved back before heading up the slope to the cabin.

Jackie tied up at the side of the dock and climbed out, mentally cursing her luck that Amy stood on the deck, sipping coffee and watching her. She was halfway up the stairs before the younger woman spoke.

“This is the first ‘boat ride of shame’ I’ve ever seen,” she giggled.

“Oh, for fuck’s sake.”

Weekend Excerpt–FOR SPARROW

FOR SPARROW is the 2018 Golden Flogger Award Winner for Best BDSM Book in the category of BDSM Light. It’s the story of young widow Jessi Crenshaw. When her husband Graham dies unexpectedly, she’s devastated. She’s lost her husband, her best friend, and her Dominant.

But as time passes, she discovers that Graham had made provision for her in the event of his death. He’s asked firefighter paramedic Judd Farris, his good friend and protege in the Lifestyle, to look after Jessi until she gets back on her feet and finds a Dominant of her own.

Together, Jessi and Judd try to navigate their way through a platonic Dom/sub relationship. For Judd, it’s nothing less that what he owes to the memory of his friend. But resisting their mutual attraction is becoming more and more difficult. What if Graham had more in mind than merely a temporary arrangement?

Here’s a steamy teaser from FOR SPARROW.

Up to her neck in lavender-scented bubbles, Jessi sighed.  The room was lit only by a handful of tea light candles she’d placed around the edges of the garden tub.  She closed her eyes and recalled the feeling of being in Judd’s arms earlier in the day.  He’d told her that he was proud of her, and that had pleased Jessi immensely.

And he’d given her permission to come.  The impish sparkle in his eyes had held the promise of a skilled lover.

Her eyes popped open.  Why had she thought that?  Nevermind.  Focus on the task at hand.

She leaned back once again, eyes closed, as she began to stroke and knead her breasts, pulling her nipples tightly, picturing lips suckling them, a tongue caressing them, as the heat built between her thighs.  She slid one hand lower to stroke her needy sex, finding the sensitive nub erect with arousal.  Rubbing intensely, she brought herself to the edge of orgasm, but slowed down.  If she was only getting one, she was going to make it last.

Her hands retreated to her breasts again, then slowly traveled back down to her pussy, where she nearly rubbed herself to completion again.  This time, she picked up the pink rabbit waiting on the edge of the tub and clicked it once.  Lowering the vibrator to her clit, she gasped as her eyes rolled back with pleasure.  Realizing she couldn’t hold out much longer, she slid the phallus to her sensitive entrance, pressing slowly into her core, all the while imagining Judd, holding himself over her, pushing his way into her needy space.  The outer part of the dildo vibrated against her clit as she fucked herself.

“Oh, God,” she moaned softly, her moment building.  “Oh, shit, holy…Judd!”  Orgasm thundered over her as she gasped, her body shuddering with intense release.  As her quaking subsided, she switched off the dildo, but left it in place as she floated back to earth.

Dressed in a silky eggplant chemise, Jessi padded back into the bedroom and slipped into bed.  She stacked the pillows behind her against the headboard, intending to read the new erotic romance on her Kindle.  But glancing at her phone on the bedside table, she remembered Judd’s charge: “Report back to me afterwards.”

The time on the clock blinked 12:09.  Was it too late?  If it was, he could just see it in the morning.  The idea of reporting on her orgasm made her feel nervous.
Maybe it was just better to get it over with.

She put down the Kindle and picked up her phone.

“So, what do you think about Amanda?” Alex asked, shouting above the pounding music.

“She’s nice,” Judd replied noncommittally.

“I’ll say she’s nice.  Nice and stacked.  When the girls get back from the bathroom, do you want me and Trish to head out so you can work your Judd Farris magic?”  Alex grinned gleefully.

“No, no need to do that.  Let’s all hang out.  Do you want to go someplace quieter?”

Alex laughed.  “Young folks and their crazy rock and roll bothering you, old man?”

“No, it’s just…”

“Well, the fact that they didn’t ditch us while we were in the bathroom is a good sign,” Trish joked as she and Amanda returned from the ladies’ room.

“Where would I go, baby, you know I love you,” Alex cooed.  “Come on, let’s show these two how it’s done.”  He took Trish’s hand and twirled her once, before leading her out to the dancefloor.

Judd leaned closer to Amanda.  “Would you like another beer?”

She nodded.  “Yeah, that would be great.”

Judd stood, nodding toward the bar.  “I’ll be right back.”  Waiting to order at the bar, he looked back toward their table.  Amanda was a friend of Trish’s from work, and somehow, Trish and Alex had decided that Judd should meet her.

She seemed nice, and she was pretty, with her blonde hair and blue eyes.  She was a little shy, and Judd wondered if that was why she didn’t currently have a boyfriend.  But he knew that he didn’t feel a connection with her, so it definitely wasn’t worth Alex and Trish leaving them to flounder on their own.

He returned to the table, two beers in hand, just as Alex and Trish left the dancefloor.  “No beers for us, homie?  Seriously?” Alex laughed, dropping off Trish and heading to the bar himself.

Amanda accepted her Corona and nodded.  “Thanks!”

“You’re welcome.”  Judd took a pull on his beer and felt his phone buzz in his pocket.  He retrieved the device and swiped it on, checking the message.  It was from Jessi.  According to the clock on his phone, it was 12:10.  Smiling reflexively, he opened the message.

Mission accomplished, Sir.

His grin broadened.  Mission accomplished.  Had she already had her allotted orgasm?

He looked up to see that Alex had returned and was watching him closely.  “Good message?”

“Oh, yeah, it’s just…”  Judd stood.  “If you’ll excuse me for a minute.  I’ll be right back.”

Dodging gyrating dancers and the crowd around the bar, Judd made his way to the sidewalk outside, where it was much quieter, despite the fact that he could still hear the deep pounding bass of the music inside the club.  He opened Jessi’s message again and pressed the telephone icon.

“Hello?” she answered tentatively.

“Mission accomplished?  That was fast,” he laughed.

“Shit!  Well, oops, sorry, I just…  Well, I didn’t think you’d call.  Geez!”

“Two words do not a report make, little one.  I need details.”  He grinned, picturing her discomfort.

“Details?  Seriously?”

“Um-hmm, starting with, where were you?”

“In the bathtub.”

“Were there bubbles?”

“Yes, there were bubbles.  And candles, too.”

“Good, this is sounding good.  And you touched yourself where?”

“You know where I touched myself,” she quipped huffily.

“Humor me, little one.”

She sighed loudly.  “I started with my breasts and moved to my pussy.”

“Okay, did you use a tool?”  Judd realized that he was becoming immensely aroused.

“A tool?  Like a dildo?  Yes, I used my rabbit.”

“Ooh, penetration.  I like it.  And did you come?”

“Yes, Sir, only once, just like you said.”  She sounded pleased with herself.

“Good girl.  Were you thinking naughty thoughts?”

“Oh, for fuck’s sake!  Everybody thinks naughty thoughts when they…”

Judd knew he was enjoying this way too much.  He swallowed a laugh.  “When they what, little one?”

Her heard her huff.  “When they masturbate.”  She whispered the last word.  “Oh, my God!”

“Nicely done, Jessi.  A full and complete report.  It’s a shame that you used up your one cummie so quickly.  It’s going to be a long week for you.”

“Yeah, and thanks to your detailed report, I’m feeling horny again.”

Judd burst out laughing.  “You are something, Jessi.  Listen, I suppose that one orgasm a week might not be quite enough.  Suppose we say that you can have a total of three for the week.  But I’m going to want a report on each one.”

“You know, having to file a report takes a little of the fun right out of the whole thing,” Jessi complained.

Judd laughed again.  “We could probably find a happy medium between two words and an in-depth play-by-play.  Something we’ll work on, okay?”

Jessi laughed, too.  “I like that idea.  And Judd, thanks again for everything today.”

“You’re very welcome,” he answered.  He looked up to see Alex leading Trish and Amanda out of the club.  “Have a good night, Jessi.  We’ll be in touch.”

“You do the same.  Have a great week.”
