Watch This Space–Greg Ramsay

If you’re like me, you love discovering new books you haven’t read by authors who are new to you.  I recently met sci-fi thriller author Greg Ramsay.  His latest book, DAVIGNE, came out in early December.

Greg Ramsay

Here’s what it’s all about.

A young lady plagued by a lack of social skills and worse is madly in love with a girl who doesn’t notice her. This isn’t a typical tale of unrequited love. No, in this story blood will flow. There are times when some must ask themselves if they’d kill for love. Ms. Davigne will discover her answer is yes. She’ll kill for her love many times over, but will she be accepted when fate leaves everyone at a crossroads in a corrupt New York city? Or will she be relegated to the shadows with only her madness to give her someone to talk to? This short story of LGBT erotic love has something for everyone: a cerebral yet artistic future serial killer, graphic violence, mature themes, sexuality, and subtle deconstructions of mental illness. In time one is either crazy or left for dead in this insane human-centric world. Who will survive?

Sounds great, right?
You can get DAVIGNE at this LINK.  It’s just 99¢, and it’s FREE with Kindle Unlimited.

Watch This Space–Brother’s Keeper by Jolie Mason

BROTHER’S KEEPER by Jolie Mason is out TODAY!  It’s the follow-up to BROTHER MINE, the beginning of the Brothers Assassins Series.

Jolie brothers keeper

About the series

The world of the Brotherhood is falling apart. As a secret organization of guns for hire, they were an open secret among the rich and the political powers that be. Across worlds, the wealthy and the powerful knew who to call to get a job done.

But, among the brotherhood there is a debate about how to do what they do, and there is a rising rebellion among the men and women who kill because they had no choice. They are beginning to realize they may have more power than they realized, and power allows one choices.

BROTHER’S KEEPER is the second book in the series.  Here’s the description.

He’s what happens when bad guys switch sides

As an assassin, he lives on a razor’s edge of losing it all every day, but since Cari Renata came into his life there is so much more to lose.

Cari Renata’s sister is dead, or so she believes. And, Bry is the one who told her that horrific lie. Her sister is hidden among the Brax in Freedom Colony, and Cari can’t know. He promised his brother he would protect both the women they love with the lie. Bryson will do that at any cost.

Cari owns the universe, or at least a small part of it. She runs a major broadcasting conglomerate that spans several systems, but she’s an investigator at heart. Cari won’t keep pushing at the terror attack that supposedly took her sister’s life, and she’s poked the wrong beast in going after Todari House.

Bryson may have to break a promise to keep a promise, and come clean about Mal Renata’s real situation. When he does, it may cost him more than he ever expected.

Confession…  I have already read an ARC of BROTHER’S KEEPER and it’s fantastic!  Mason brings the sci-fi suspense and intrigue as usual, and this time she ups the heat.  How about a little teaser?

He watched her all the time. Told himself he had a legitimate reason. That’s what he told himself. He didn’t know if it was truth or a lie, but it was a good cover.

She was in danger.

Bryson stared at the monitor of his holo screen, as he pulled on a plain white, formal dress shirt that would be part of his cover tonight. The target was special this time.

Cari stood with her back to the camera drone, piling her long, golden hair onto her head in an elegant sweep and letting the tail of it drop again as she sat watching her reflection change to that sad, lost look she wore so often, when she thought no one would see. Only then did she let it show.

Cari was coming in for the night, not going out. Bryson was going to work. Their schedules were opposite most of the time, however, he monitored Cari with every resource he had. The men kept shifts in teams of four. No expense was spared.

Bryson looked at the chrono. It was getting late.

He did his best work late, and tonight he had an important job. This wasn’t a job for a client. It was personal. The Brotherhood was removing an obstacle.

Looking back at the holo, Bryson stopped with both hands on the fasteners of his shirt, his eyes glued to the screen, she pulled a tiny clip from her bangs, and continued preparing for bed, letting the fair waves cascade around her back in a shiny, silken skein.

True blondes were rare as doby eggs anymore, and it wasn’t in fashion. Most changed their hair color away from the blond. Not Cari, though.

She didn’t change to fit silly conventions. She changed conventions. He smiled to himself.

She’d have a long road changing this one. Her blond hair accompanied a collection of recessive traits that were associated with some pretty ugly genetic anomalies that were nearly unheard of in this day and age of cloning and genetic manipulation, and people tended to think about the practical concerns in modern day, rather than how the light caught the colors making it look like sunshine.

However, as he stared at Cari Renata’s holo image, all he could see was the poetry of her: hair long and shining, the color of Desian honey, smaller, rounded breasts, long, long legs. Blue eyes that could, and did, go green with high emotion, especially when she was angry.

Had he ever seen them stay blue when she looked his way? He doubted it.

Still staring, though he shouldn’t, he saw more of that glorious body as she dropped the sheath dress she’d been wearing to some formal evening somewhere, and bent to pick it up from the floor. He could only see her back, and yet, even the barest glance made his mouth go dry.

He should look away. He knew it. He should give her the privacy she deserved. Yet, he didn’t.

She’d only worn panties beneath the sheath, a small triangle the color of her little black dress. Bryson’s hand clenched and unclenched at his side. He drank her in, even knowing it was wrong, that she would be angry. One day, when he confessed this, she would be so very angry.

If they survived.

If Todari didn’t kill them both.

If. It was that if that kept his eyes on her. These stolen moments could be all he ever had.

Jolie brother mine

Sounds great, right?  Didn’t read the first book, BROTHER MINE?  No worries.  Here’s what it’s all about.

In a future world where aliens are hated, loving one is the most dangerous thing a girl can do. Mal Renata was born with the proverbial silver spoon in her mouth, but it never stopped her from becoming the voice of the Braxian people. As an activist fighting off mankind’s inevitable slide into cruelty and prejudice, she wants to stop the Scourge bill from becoming law, but how can she do that, if the bill’s supporters keep dying? Public outcry wants someone to pay, so she intends to give them someone.

Until she tracks down, Adame Sacha, a Braxian freedman and one of the notorious Brother Assassins, she thinks the brotherhood is her problem. Instead, she finds they may be the best allies she could hope for. Together, she and Adame search for those who are eager to profit from the suffering of the Brax, and they track their prey in a world where lives are held cheaply, but death is expensive.

They may be able to elude the dangers of his world for awhile, but they can’t run from the attraction to each other. No matter what their differences.

An alien assassin romance.

kmkmtease1

Gem eased her toy into the water, bringing it closer to her body. Once the vibrating toy reached her clit, she trembled. This was something her cyborg should be doing to her. He should be there with her, making her shiver.

Yet, here she was, doing it to herself, like always. She closed her eyes and thought about him. Using her imagination, she pictured him naked. He probably had a six-pack of hard abs.

She wished she could lick those abs while she moved lower, trailing her tongue down his skin. His cock was probably long and hard. She would slide her tongue over the tip a few times before allowing him to push into her mouth.

Gem moaned as she pictured her tongue sliding over the head of his cock. His skin would feel warm, like a real man. But, he wouldn’t come quickly like most men did. He was programmed to last long. That was what the brochure said.

She could suck on him until her jaws got tired if she wanted to. Then they would switch positions and he would put his mouth on her. Her desire rose. Gem turned her toy up to its highest level.

She licked her lips as her hips jerked. She needed an orgasm so badly. It wasn’t going to take her long to wring one from herself. She bit into her lower lip as she pushed the dildo in and out of her, imagining it was Mr. Brown Eyes doing it to her.

“What are you doing?”

She wanted him so bad, she was starting to hear his voice.

“Gemini, are you… pleasuring yourself?”

Hell yeah… wait. She opened her eyes and stared up into the glare of her mechanical man. Shit. She pulled the dildo out of her body and sat it on the side of the tub. Moving faster than lightening, he grabbed it and brought it closer to his face.

“Hey, put that down.” She stretched her arm out, reaching for it.

He glared at her before returning his gaze to the toy. She sank lower into the water to shield herself from his view. Not because she was shy about her body. But because she was embarrassed at being caught touching herself.

She hadn’t even heard him come in. He turned the toy from left to right, as if he’d never seen one. Duh. He wasn’t human. He probably had no idea what he was holding. She grew even more embarrassed when he stared down at his boxers.

His boxers. Her eyes travelled over his form. All he was clad in was a pair of white boxers. White boxers that were tented in the front. He was hard. OMG. Her eyes widened as he lifted the waistband of his boxers and peered inside then back up at the dildo.

He released the band and the material snapped shut. It was impossible for her to blush more than she already was. If he hadn’t known what the toy was before, he did now. His angry words proved that.

“Why were you using this?” he glared at her.

What to say? Because you weren’t here. Because I thought you wasn’t coming back. Because I’m horny as hell and you didn’t seem like you wanted to help out with that.

“Gemini?”

Even though he sounded displeased, she was still mesmerized by the sound of him saying her name. His voice was so deep, so dark. She could already imagine the guttural sounds he would make when he was coming.

“Gemini, answer me.”

She cleared her throat. “What was the question again?”

“Why were you using this?”

“Because, well, see… shit. I was horny. There, I said it. Happy now?”

“Happy? No, I’m not happy.” He moved closer to the tub. “I was gone briefly and I returned to find you pleasuring yourself with an inanimate object.”

“Don’t growl at me like that. And you were not gone briefly. You were gone almost twenty minutes.”

“I had… something came up with one of my brethren. But that’s not the point. How did you go from wanting to talk, to being aroused?”

“Seriously? You’re the pleasure robot. You should know how all of this works.”

He frowned. “What are you talking about?”

“Oh my gosh.” Gemini rolled her eyes. “You’re supposed to be pleasuring me. That’s your job. Since you don’t seem to want to do your job, I’ve decided to take care of it myself.”

He stared at the dildo again. “And you were doing it with this puny thing?”

“Hey, that is Mr. Magic 3000. He isn’t puny.”

“My appendage is larger than this,” he stared at her.

Oh really? Gem swallowed. “You’re bigger than that?” She nodded toward the toy.

“Much.”

“Prove it.”

He frowned. “You don’t believe me?”

“I want to see for myself.” Oh my, he’s standing up.

He pulled his boxers down and what sprang forth was definitely bigger than Mr. Magic 3000. He was more like Mr. Magic 6000. He pulled his boxers back up and knelt down next to the tub again.

“I told you.”

Gem nodded. “Uh, yeah, you did.”

Watch This Space–Spotlight on Jolie Mason

cry-havocOkay you guys.  Not long ago, I featured Jolie Mason’s latest book, Cry Havoc.  But I hadn’t actually finished reading it at the time of the post.  Now that I have, it deserves another spotlight, because it’s just that good!

Here’s my review from Amazon:

As a huge fan of Jolie Mason, I was super excited when I found out that she has a new series. In Cry Havoc, Aiden Simeon is a very young man with a load of responsibilities, not the least of which is the care of his ad hoc family, three orphaned kids for whom he strives to provide. He’s working as a tech with the Lancers, a fact which pleases me to no end–I loved Mason’s 47th Lancers series, and I’m thrilled that she’s brought back some of those characters.

Cry Havoc is fast-paced sci-fi, but it has heartbreaking moments and a deeply character-driven core. Take it from me, you will want in on the ground floor of Jolie Mason’s new War in the Stars series. Can’t wait for the next installment–5 BIG STARS!

Jolie Mason was kind enough to stop by my little blog and answer Pandora’s Dirty Dozen.  So get to know this talented sci-fi romance author.  Who knew she’s into menage books, just like me?  (*cough*  Paging Nia Farrell.  *cough*)

1. Describe your books and your writing style.

Scifi romance and young adult scifi

2. Talk about your process. Where do you write? When do you write? Are you linear or do you write scenes and put them together later? Who are your muses and where do you get your best ideas?

My muses in my genre ( there are many others) are Anna Hackett and Cynthia Sax. Also, AR Declerck, oh, how I love her prose. No one writes prose the way she can. I am most inspired by reading and music.

3. Tell us about your latest release.

Cry Havoc. The first in a series of straight up scifi aimed at younger adults. It’s about so many things; family, loyalty, robots gone horribly awry.

4. What is your current project?

I am currently plugging away at the second in my Brother Assassins series, Brother’s Keeper.

5. Now about you… Very generally speaking, where do you call home?

Southeast Missouri, right on the river. RIGHT on the river.

6. As a reader… What genre do you most often read? What is your all-time favorite book, and why?

Mostly I read future and past. lol. I devour SFR like it’s going out of style, but I also pick up the occasional Paranormal romance and Historicals. Jane Eyre is my go to. I’ve read it probably thirty times in my life, and have multiple highlighted copies around here somewhere.

7. What do you like to do when you’re not writing or reading?

Karaoke keeps me sane, as I struggle with three kids entering the dreaded teen years.

8. We all have guilty pleasures. I enjoy boy bands. There, I said it. What is your guilty pleasure?

Menage books. I have a serious weakness for erotica sometimes, and coffee. Lots of coffee.

9. What superpower would you choose, and why?

As a scifi writer, this is a more serious question than you might suppose. We contemplate this kind of stuff. I would most love to be able to turn invisible at will. Flying would just get me killed. I do NOT want to read the thoughts of random strangers. OMG. There are too many side effects to almost everything psychic, so I would choose sneaky because it has practical applications.

10. If you could live anywhere, you’d choose…

Anywhere? I’d build one of those treehouses like you see on PBS. The kind that are like mansions and have wifi. Then, I’d probably build another and end up with some strange artist’s commune because I cannot stop when I love something.

11. I wish _________________ would read my book.

I don’t know. I get freaked when I know someone’s read it. I wonder endlessly what they thought, so usually I don’t want to know. lol

12. In the airport, you overhear a heated argument between a husband and wife. You:

politely ignore it.
stop what you’re doing and watch with rapt attention.
mention it to airport personnel.

tuck it away for use in a future book.

Now run, don’t walk, to get your copy of Cry Havoc.  Get in on the ground floor of this exciting new series!

Watch This Space–Jolie Mason’s Cry Havoc

Image result for jolie mason cry havocI’m so excited, and if you love sci-fi with plenty of action, heart, and romance, you’ll be excited, too.

Jolie Mason has a brand new release called Cry Havoc.  And one reason I’m thrilled is that she’s brought back the Lancers, who I thought we’d seen the last of after the finale of the Redemption series.  I was never happier to be wrong.

So what is Cry Havoc about?  Here’s the blurb:

Aiden Simeon hasn’t had a normal life. That’s how he became a tech with a mercenary group on Havoc Station, one of the roughest places in the galaxy. He’s inherited the responsibility of three other kids, while he’s still just a kid himself. The Lancers are the only ticket out of the system, and he intends they’ll be on that transport when they go.

Provided, of course, he can solve the problem of a cyber attack on the station, survive the war with a new and overwhelming enemy, and learn how to fit in an evolving world where nothing can stay the same.

I’ve already started reading it.  Be assured, when I finish it, I’ll publish a full review, but I’ve got to tell you, I’m so loving this book!

How about a sneak peek?

Station’s klaxon sounded all through the security room. “What was that?” Luca asked him tensely.

He accessed the station’s interface. The holo image that was Havoc stood before him dressed in simple white and looking visibly upset, which was damned unnerving.

“Aiden Simeon. There is no way to stop them,” the AI stated.

“Stop who?”

“There is a private security detail from the Halcyon in dock at CT335. They are firing into the crowd on the concourse.”

He stared at the interface’s all too human reaction. “Shut it down. Override.”

“I cannot, Aiden Simeon. They are not responding to outside protocols.”

Luca pulled a sidearm. “They’ll respond to pulse fire.”

He nodded. “That’s the only option. Havoc, alert the 47th. Don’t send your own drones. Leave them inactive. The last thing we need is a war on the concourse.”

He and Luca headed for the open area of the concourse where they could hear the commotion of energy weapons discharging and people running and screaming. Aiden and Luca hugged the walls until they could see the unit of security droids ahead firing on anyone human. He heard Luca’s quickly drawn breath.

“Oh, my gods. Those are security droids? They look like mechs.”

They were big, no question there. Aiden looked around and tapped Luca on the shoulder. There was a security station to their right. “How’s that clearance? Still higher than mine?”

She followed his gaze and nodded.

“Let’s go shopping first then. What do you say?”

He smiled for the first time in what felt like forever as they stayed low and tried to stay invisible among the mass of running lifeforms trapped in the concourse. Making their way quickly through the security office, Luca headed straight for the armory vault, entered a code, and pulled the long cabinet out with a clang.

Aiden didn’t wait even a second. He grabbed one of the more powerful rifles in the back and checked the charge. He threw the strap over his shoulder, grabbing for two extra charge packs and stuffing them in his vest pockets. He grabbed two stunners, handing one to Luca.

She stared at it dubiously, until he said, “Aim it at their control panel, lower left side.”

She nodded and stuck the stunner in the back of her pants. “Okay, got what you want?”

At his nod, she slammed the cabinet shut and they headed back out into the fray. They stayed low taking in the mess that was the concourse.

The droids had already killed dozens, crashed a transport in the hub, and destroyed two restaurants and a storefront. Shards and twisted metal littered the floor. They each took cover behind a hulking drone maintenance station.

Two of the machines occupied the now empty space before them, shining in the glinting station lights and alert for any movement.

They stood taller than any security drones he’d ever seen before. The most disturbing part of the pair was that they appeared to be communicating, at one in purpose, and working together. Mech networking was supposed to be for sharing battle data and enemy position, not for making behavioral decisions.

Aiden peeked out again to see one droid appear to relay an order to the other with a hand gesture. He waved to catch Luca’s eye.

Then, Aiden gestured to the other side of the concourse where there was limited cover. He let Luca know he was heading for that small area of cover, to try and get into a flanking position. She shook her head vigorously.

He had to admit, it was a long way. Holding his rifle in both hands, he gestured the gun toward the two droids, telling her without words that it was her job to fire on the mechs and let him get there. She rolled her eyes at him.

Aiden felt his heart pounding as he pointed the rifle up and took a deep breath. He nodded one time before running from the cover of the bulky metal structure, hearing Luca’s flurry of fire behind him. He slid into cover feeling a sting run up his left leg. He didn’t acknowledge the pain, but instead lifted the rifle to fire on the two machines. He’d chosen this rifle for a reason.

The package concealed a kick.

It had a snub nosed design that deceived. It looked like a much weaker weapon, but anyone who knew weapons knew this one would cut through four feet of bulkhead. He fired taking the closest droids head off, while the other one mistakenly focused on Luca who wasn’t holding the gun that was the greatest threat. Aiden hit the charge again, checking to see how many more shots before reload.

He was a good shot. The rifle could fire on this pack twice more. It would be enough. He lifted it carefully, blocking out the sight of Luca doing her best to keep out of the metal beast’s line of fire. He breathed in deeply then pulled the trigger. A moment after, the massive droid collapsed as his right leg was blown from beneath him. He crumpled to the deck, a useless hulk of metal.

Luca emerged from her hiding place to stand over the fallen giant and fire her pulse into its hardly human-like face. It stopped moving entirely. Aiden moved out of cover to stare at the thing, lying on its side. For a mech, it was very fluid in design, but clearly machine, not meant to mimic a human at all.

“There are more somewhere,” Luca said breathing heavily.

Aiden nodded. “I’ve been patched in. The MI teams are moving on them now. There are two more. The Halcyon is reporting heavy casualties. There are more on board that are attempting to take over the ship’s internal systems. Once the station’s secure, the Lancers are planning to retake the Halcyon.”

“They have to.” Luca touched her comm. “Two Zero Comm, this is the XO. Train weapons on the Halcyon. If she undocks, pursue and destroy. And, please, try not to blow up the station in the process.”

She smiled at whatever was said on the encrypted comm. “I appreciate it, old man.”

Watch This Space–Jolie Mason

I just read a cool, exciting, sexy story by Jolie MasonRiding Redemption: The 47th Lancers #1 is a sci-fi thriller with heartfelt, sexy romance.  This is not my usual read, but I have to tell you, I can’t wait to read more of this story.

I’m including the Amazon link because I know you’re going to want to check this out.  It’s only 99¢, and it’s FREE with Kindle Unlimited.

Here’s my review from Amazon and Goodreads.

Thrilling Adventure With a Side of Romance

I loved this story! Wendy, call-sign Dahlia, and Beau, call-sign Jackson, are members of the 47th Lancers, tasked with repelling alien invaders. They also happen to be former lovers. But when Jackson got too close, Dahlia broke it off. Now they struggle to work together and maintain their professionalism.

This story has heart-pounding action and I love the fact that the author doesn’t dumb down the technical details of battle. There’s also hot romance. I can’t wait to read the next installment.
