BRAND NEW BOOK TRAILER for Rannigan’s Redemption

I’m so excited to share the brand new book trailer for my three-novel erotic romance collection, Rannigan’s Redemption.  The trailer is on my Youtube channel, so while you’re there, you can subscribe to get all the latest videos I post there.

Rannigan’s Redemption is the story of high profile Manhattan defense attorney Michael Rannigan and his complicated relationship with spunky red-haired fellow lawyer Maggie Flynn.

When he meets Maggie at job fair at his alma mater and hires her to join his elite team, Michael’s life is forever changed.  She’s nothing at all like the women he usually dates.  But he can’t ignore the attraction he feels for her.  And she’s attracted to him, too.  But they both resist that risk…until one night of passion that tears them apart.

On their own, their lives spin out of control.  Then one fateful night, desperation brings them together.  Michael’s burned all his bridges.  Yet somehow, Maggie agrees to stand by him as he faces his greatest challenge.

How can he ever repay her for the sacrifices she’s made?  And can he somehow find redemption for his past?

You can find Rannigan’s Redemption in any format you might need at this link:

Mistakes and Wide Open Spaces

Have you ever heard a song that changed your life?  This is the one that changed mine.  I can remember first hearing it and realizing that up until that point, I’d always operated out of fear.  What if I made a mistake?

The lines, “She needed wide open spaces, room to make a big mistake” so resonated with me.  I realized that I can make a mistake and the world doesn’t automatically end.  I can just learn from it and move on.  How liberating!

What song made you reevaluate the way you live?

Weekend Excerpt–Luke & Bella: Two Streets Over

Sexy woman in little black dress keeping the legs on a vintage s

Luke & Bella: Two Streets Over is a contemporary erotic romance novel about a pair of television journalists who are hired to create a new weekly travel television program.

Bella Grant is a smart, sexy redhead.  She’s been in television news for years, too busy to slow down for a romantic relationship.

Weary of death and mayhem, Luke McGillicutty opted out of news, retiring to the sunny shores of Florida to live a simple life away from the rat race.

A phone call from his old producer pal Charlie changes his life forever.  Travel the world, create a new show highlighting the best of everything.  With the help of a partner, of course.

Luke isn’t sure about that–he tends not to work well with others.  But the truth is, he’s bored.  Maybe a little adventure without the focus on war and destruction might be good for his soul.  Besides, Charlie says his partner will be a hot redhead.  Nothing wrong with that.

They’re traveling first class, staying in the most luxurious hotels, finding adventure at every turn…  Is it any wonder they fall in love?  There’s just one problem–Luke hasn’t been completely honest with Bella.  He’s a Dominant, and he sees in her the perfect submissive.  But will she be open to a BDSM lifestyle?  Maybe she’ll see it his way.  Or maybe he’ll lose her forever.  Should he settle for the status quo?  Or should he risk everything on the chance that they could have it all?

Here’s an excerpt of Luke & Bella: Two Streets Over:

Luke ordered a light dinner of tapas delivered to the suite along with a bottle of local wine.  Bella wore a fluffy white bathrobe.  He’d put on faded jeans and a grey t-shirt.  She smiled lazily at him across the table, a woman sated.  He poured them both some wine and they nibbled on the baked feta and tomatoes, olives, and fresh fruits and breads.

Bella sighed and said, “I was thinking…”

“Uh-oh,” Luke laughed.

She gave him a wry smile.  “Seriously!  I was thinking about that really nice evening you planned for us in Edinburgh.”

“Yeah, you liked that, did you?” he asked, grinning.

“Um, yeah!  Wine, music, flowers, an amazing dinner, mind-blowing sex…what’s not to like?” she said.  “But, I was thinking that I should plan an evening.  You know, it’s my turn.”

“No, I don’t think that’s necessary,” he replied slowly.

“Not necessary?” she laughed.  “I’m not saying I feel obligated, just that I’d like to return the favor, so to speak.”

Luke waited a moment, considering his response.  The timing’s a little sooner than you planned, Cowboy, he thought.  Play it safe or risk losing her?  Decision made, he took the risk.  “The thing is, I’m not a fan of surprises.  I’m something of a…dominant…kind of guy.  I like making the plans,” he said evenly.

Bella looked at him, brow furrowed.  “You’re a ‘dominant kind of guy’?  As in, Dominant/submissive ‘dominant’?” she laughed lightly.

“Well, yes,” he said, looking at her directly.

Bella blinked.  “You’re kidding, right?” she asked incredulously.

Luke shook his head.  “No, not kidding.”

Her eyes went wide and her mouth hung open slightly.  “I don’t understand.  What does that mean that you do?”

He shrugged.  “Whatever makes me and my partner happy.  Blindfolds, restraints, spanking, safe words.  When we play a scene, she is mine, completely surrendered to me.  And I protect and care for her.”

When she didn’t reply, he continued, “It’s not a big deal.  I like to be in charge when it comes to romance, to sex.  I like to be the protector, to take care of my woman.  And,” he added softly, “if it doesn’t blow your mind too much, I think you are the perfect submissive.”

She shook her head slowly, eyes wide with disbelief.  “You are SO barking up the wrong tree.  I am anything but submissive.  I need to be in control.”

“I’ve noticed,” he said quietly.  “But you’re not good at it.  I said before that you try to control things by putting them into neat little categories, boxes.  When that doesn’t work, you shut down.  Imagine not having to control.  Not having to think or worry.  Just letting go and allowing someone else to be in control for a while.”

“I don’t even know what you’re talking about,” Bella whispered.  “You have lost your mind!”

“I understand your reservations.  Between your father and your ex, you’ve never had a man in your life that you could completely trust,” he said gently.

Bella felt as though she’d been gut-punched.  His words rang in her ears and she knew they were true.

“I am that man, Bella.  Do you trust me?  You can completely let go.  It will be the most freeing experience of your life,” he stated with quiet confidence, looking at her steadily, hoping to reassure her.

She shook her head again.  “I’m falling in…” it came out as a sob, “and now I realize I don’t even know you!”

She abruptly left the table and went into the bedroom, emerging a few minutes later completely dressed in jeans and a white tank top.  On her face was the hard, closed expression he’d seen that night in Amsterdam.  “I’m going out for a while,” she told him firmly.

“Bella, I wish you wouldn’t go alone.  It could be dangerous,” he worried.

She waved him off and walked out the door, closing it behind her.

“Shit!” Luke exhaled deeply, and he ran his fingers through his hair, wondering if he’d made a mistake, if he’d lost her.

Teresa Noelle Roberts writes erotic romance and romantic erotica for passionate people who like tales of true love on the spicy side. Also a poet and fantasy writer, she has a particular fondness for paranormal and fantasy tales in which the romantic, the supernatural, and of course the erotic mingle. She’s also drawn to things kinky.

Born in the Finger Lakes region of New York, she now lives in southeastern Massachusetts with her own personal hero and a clowder of exceedingly large cats. When she’s not writing, you might find Teresa working in the vegetable garden…or cooking up a storm…or knitting something bright and colorful….or on a beach, regardless of the weather. If you can’t find her at all, well, she has to get ideas for all those sexy stories somewhere.

Wren hails from the frozen tundra of Wisconsin where beer and cheese are their own food groups. But a cowboy swept her off her feet and carried her below the Mason-Dixon line to Texas, where she promptly lost all tolerance for cold and snow. Fueled by coffee, dreams, and men in kilts, Wren promises to bring you laughter, sexy fun time, and action that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The easiest way to her heart is anything to do with the Green Bay Packers, Doctor Who, or Joss Whedon.

LeTeisha Newton: So I think this is the part where I’m supposed to say something super cool, win you over, and make you my life-long superfan…OR wait, is that how I am about my anime collection?

Probably.

Basically, I’m an author, blogger, geek, and villain lover (Joker IS MINE!). There shouldn’t be any surprise then that I tend to love my heroes a bit broken, all messed up, and in need of someone who understands them just the way they are.

Ha, my heroines are right there with them. You see, love is nice, it’s sweet. It can be all rainbows and glowing stars. And then it can be dark, twisted, hurtful, and feel so good you have to scream about it. So I write like that. From one side of the spectrum to the other, because that’s real. That’s life. And that’s what we crave–-delving into a fantasy world or not.

Margaret Madigan: I write romance for Entangled Publishing and Evernight Publishing. I write and indie-publish romance and sci-fi through M&M Publishing.

I’m an Oregon Ducks fan.

I’m a donut and pastry addict (pretty much any carbs, really).

I like cats.

I’m terrified of balloons.

When I’m not writing you’ll find me in a college classroom teaching English and, of course, wrangling my family.

Sadly, Amanda passed away in July 2016. When she wasn’t plotting ways to sneak her latest shoe purchase past her partner, Amanda wrote sexy, snarky romance and urban fantasy. She liked her heroines smart and unafraid to make mistakes, and her heroes strong enough to take them on.

When she wasn’t writing, she was reading, drinking hot chocolate, and trying not to destroy her house with her newest DIY project. She lived in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, and no, it really doesn’t rain that much.

Liv Rancourt: I write romance: m/f, m/m, and v/h, where the h is for human and the v is for vampire…or sometimes demon. I write funny. I don’t write angst. When I’m not writing I take care of tiny premature babies or teenagers, depending on whether I’m at home or at work. My husband is a soul of patience, my dog is the cutest thing evah(!), and we’re up to three ferrets.

Watch This Space–Patient Lee

Out by Patient LeeI’m so thrilled to feature the ever-sexy Patient Lee in this week’s Watch This Space post.  I just read her new book, OUT, and it’s everything I love about a Patient Lee book.  Out is a collection of five of her best gay romances.  One thing I love about it is that she begins each story with its origins, where she came up with the idea for it in the first place.  Another thing I love about Patient Lee books is the humanity with which she infuses her characters.  She allows us to slip into their skins and walk around for a while, getting the feel of what it is to be a gay man on a “journey of discovery.”

Recently, she was gracious enough to sit down and answer Pandora’s Dirty Dozen interview questions.  Get to know sexy erotica author Patient Lee.

1. Describe your books and your writing style.

Erotic realism- infusing the mundane with the erotic. The erotic is everywhere. You just have to wear the right lens to see it.

2. Talk about your process. Where do you write? When do you write? Are you linear or do you write scenes and put them together later? Who are your muses and where do you get your best ideas?

You know the scene in Wreck It Ralph when Fix It Felix and Sergeant Calhoun are in the Nesquik Sand, and the vines of Laffy Taffy drop down from above and save them? My ideas are like those vines of taffy. I don’t get all of the pieces of a story at once, but once I have three or four vines, I can start weaving them together. I write where I can, often in bed. During the summer I write in my camper or outside on my little table. I wish I had a super comfy desk chair, but I’d probably just fall asleep. I’ve been using Scrivener lately, which makes it easier to write a scene at a time and plot the others as I go. I also outline loosely in my 5×5 graph composition tablet with my 0.7 mm lead Bic Atlantis pencil. (I can’t always find them. Sometimes I have to get Bic Velocity.) When I struggle with a scene or a story, I hand-write in my very best penmanship in my tablet. I go through two or three of them a year, and I intersperse stories with to-do lists, lesson plans, grocery lists, rants about work, rants about how much my work-in-progress sucks, etc. To touch my tablet is to risk your life. Consider yourself warned.

3. Tell us about your latest release.

OUT: Five Erotic Stories of Gay Self-Discovery is a collection of some of my best writing. It’s available on Kindle Unlimited. Five erotic stories of different stages of self-discovery.
Come with a Friend ~ An eighteen-old-man with a tragic life and a history of being bullied reconnects with a childhood friend who cooks up a scheme to take revenge on the bully of their youth. But is revenge the real reason for Jason wearing a gown to the prom? Or could it be love?
Christmas in July ~ Straight-guy Sam spends a weekend in a campground to entice his kids to hang out with him for Christmas in July. His ex-wife cuts the weekend short, leaving him plenty of time to hang out with Larry, the fortysomething gay man in the camper next door. Beer and Larry’s mildly dominant personality leads them into his camper. And then his bedroom.
Come on Down ~ While fooling around with the much younger Caylin, James has a flashback to a gay experience when he was younger, prompting his girlfriend to arrange a threesome with an old friend. How far will James go with another man this time?
Gay Greenhorn on the F/V Lost Agnes ~ Inspired by the song Midnight Train to Georgia, Carson travels to Alaska to try crab fishing, but the Lost Agnes is too much for him. He meets Artie, a deckhand, and they fall hard and fast for each other. When life on the Bering Sea threatens to swallow him up, Carson returns to Georgia, to the life he knows. But Artie can’t live without him. He has to choose life on a crab boat or life with Carson in Georgia.
Love and a Hate Crime ~ Thad is twenty, but he’s slow. When his bully, Jimmy, tells him to “fuck up the queers,” the gay couple in their 60s who live down the block, Thad trusts that in return, Jimmy will leave him alone. When he breaks into their house, he witnesses the couple making love, arousing him and terrifying him at the same time. What if Thad is queer too?

4. What is your current project?

I’ve been working on the same “Mary Poppinsish” story for the last 8 months. It’s about 12k words so far (which is pathetic for 8 months), but I’m right on the cusp of making it work. Here’s what it’s about: A lesbian couple, struggling to stay together, wins a personal chef for a week. Their eight-year-old daughter is delighted, but the mommies aren’t too thrilled to accept an intruder. When Daelynn Crane arrives, she turns their world upside down, reminding Allison and Lori what good sex feels like and teaching them to love each other without condition once again. But is Daelynn Crane the woman she claims to be? (This story will appear in the upcoming anthology, Three’s Company, a collection of threesome tales by the authors of The Cabin.)

5. Now about you… Very generally speaking, where do you call home?

 Northeast US.

6. As a reader… What genre do you most often read? What is your all-time favorite book, and why?

I prefer books about real things, but I guess I just like a good story. My all-time favorite books are It, by Stephen King (and I claim not to like things not based in reality), I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb (and I don’t remember why), and A.M. Manay’s November Snow series (and I don’t like vampires). I love, love, love short stories, the quirkier, the better. I love the classics, all of Stephen King’s short story collections (Rainy Season is my favorite.), Erotic Shivers by M.S. Tarot (Read Lord of Devil’s Night!), Stories to Read While Driving by Jim Heskett, and I recently fell in love with C. Jai Ferry’s collection of flash fiction- Unraveled.

7. What do you like to do when you’re not writing or reading?

I love crossword puzzles, and I’ve had the subscription to the NY Times Crosswords for about twelve years.

8. We all have guilty pleasures. I enjoy boy bands. There, I said it. What is your guilty pleasure?

Candy Crush. I’m hopelessly addicted.

9. What superpower would you choose, and why?

Ability to breathe underwater. I have dreams in which I can.

10. If you could live anywhere, you’d choose…

 Caribbean beach.

11. I wish _________________ would read my book.

 Stephen King

12. In the airport, you overhear a heated argument between a husband and wife. You:

tuck it away for use in a future book.

Weekend Excerpt–Rannigan’s Redemption

RR nominee coverRannigan’s Redemption is sexy contemporary erotic romance, the story of high-powered Manhattan defense attorney Michael Rannigan and his complicated relationship with Maggie Flynn, the smart, spunky redheaded lawyer he hires to join his elite firm.

The story was originally released as three separate books.  The Rannigan’s Redemption Collection, released in late July, contains all three books in the trilogy: Resisting Risk, Running Rogue, and Ransoming Redemption.  It’s been nominated for a 2016 Summer Indie Book Award.

This excerpt is the beginning chapter of the entire story.  Be forewarned: This excerpt contains adult language.  Reader discretion is advised.

Fucking her had been inevitable, he reasoned.  After all, Maggie was not unattractive with her thick red hair, bright green eyes shaded by long red lashes she darkened with mascara, the smattering of freckles across her nose.  Beneath those inexpensive business suits she favored, her body wasn’t bad.  Don’t think he hadn’t noticed.

It was an odd line of thought for a man on vacation.  He stretched out his legs on the chaise and gazed past his tanned bare feet to the turquoise water of the Indian Ocean.  His travel agent had assured him that he’d love the Maldives.  He raised his glass of bourbon in a toast to Nancy at East Coast Travel, but his thoughts returned to Maggie.

He’d actually been surprised at the firm, full, round tits he’d unearthed beneath that conservative grey blouse.  They were much larger than he’d realized, in a natural, homegrown sort of way.

Obviously, she wasn’t his usual taste. He preferred bottle blondes with tiny waists and store-bought tits, the bigger the better.  In fact, if a woman resembled Barbie, it was a plus.  Not that he’d turn down a hot brunette, either.  He gravitated toward socialites, models, or occasionally actresses, the more successful the better.  Less successful women tended to be needy, emotionally speaking.  Flight attendants were his among his favorites.  They could never stay.

He glanced to his right at Vivian, the chosen one accompanying him on this trip. She wore only the tiniest black bikini bottoms, having removed the top to avoid tan lines.  Her white blonde hair was swept up in a knot on top of her head.  Expensive designer sunglasses shaded eyes he knew were violet, albeit artificially so, thanks to purple contacts.  Plumped pouting lips were precisely situated beneath her perfect designer nose.  Had she told him that she’d had her lips done again just before they left New York?  He couldn’t seem to remember.  His gaze fell to her enormous tits.  They really are her best quality, he thought.  Later, he’d fuck those tits.  She could always shower before dinner.

She noticed that he was looking her way.  “Hey, baby,” she simpered, fingering her left nipple provocatively.  He winked at her then looked away without answering.

As a fellow attorney, Maggie was much too bright for his liking as well.  He wasn’t in it for the conversation, after all; he was never interested in what they had to say.  And boning a colleague was usually a bad idea.  But she’d liked him.  She always had, since she first was hired at Murphy, Rannigan, & Metheny.

There were those who called Michael Rannigan shallow.  He shook his head.  Fuck them, and the horse they rode in on, he thought.

And now for a teeny surprise…

I read part of this excerpt live today on Blog Talk Radio in my interview with Brian ‘The Hammer’ Jackson.  Want to listen?  Click this LINK to hear the entire program.

Change of Heart by Liv Rancourt
Preacher always said New Orleans was a den of sin, so of course Clarabelle had to see for herself…

An Evening at Crossroads by Kate Richards
They broke every taboo, an ancient vampire, an exotic shifter on the run sharing gay romance under the roof of the newest and most daring club in New Orleans

Lion of Frenchman Street by Teresa Noelle Roberts
When saxophonist Peter Lyons invites New Orleans newcomer Kelsey into his world of jazz and kinky sex, his dominance ignites her body and his music speaks to her soul. But Peter’s hiding old pain and when Kelsey’s offered a job out of town, everything goes out of tune.

Well, first of all because I was lucky enough to be invited to participate in an anthology about one of my favorite cities. New Orleans has a magic like no place else and I come back from visits there full of inspiration. Every part of the city has so many stories of its own. I hope I did justice to the feel of the Big Easy.

Second, I was glad to have the opportunity to continue the story of Warren and the crew of Evening at Animals. The shifter world in which they live has its own magic that I feel blends with New Orleans, even if the original club is far away in Arizona. The Superstitions are every bit as mystical in their own way. And with all the strife in the world right now, a story about two people from different “races” and backgrounds made me happy. ~ Kate

Paranormal beings fascinate me. To have even a tenth of their superpowers—wow. Tell me you wouldn’t like to use a gift for precognition to find out which stocks to buy or whether you’ll get that raise. That said, special gifts do come with drawbacks (doesn’t everything?). A vamp may live forever, if you call that living, but for some, sunlight’s a killer. Weres frequently have bad hair days. A hot reaper like Zekiel and badass demon like Jewel have their own problems. For her, it’s meeting her ‘soul quota’ for Satan. For him, it’s making sure she doesn’t sign everyone up for Hell before he can reap them. As competitors and lovers, they’ve met their match. ~ Tina

Why I wrote the book: I have always been fascinated by New Orleans and the loupe garou legends in the surrounding swamps. The character of Marie Laveau is also one of interest. What if I could combine the two for a spicy tale of love, redemption and voodoo? Thus sprang the impetus for the Root Workers series and the bare bones of Bayou Shadows. There will be many more books to come and I plan to lengthen this first novella a good deal. I also wanted to showcase what it may have been like to be a gay man in those times, consciously on alert from being discovered. Add in the power of a necromancer in Marie Laveau’s city and you have a powder keg just waiting to explode.

Delia’s character is also one I loved. She wants to know her past, but it is kept hidden from her-for a purpose. There is power in secrets, especially hers. I wanted to explore the loa principle in voodoo and give her a parent who will ultimately help determine if she can navigate the dark side to help save the man she loves. I hope you enjoy the read and remember…there is magic in the moonlight… ~ Erzabet

The Lion of Frenchman Street started out simply enough: my husband and I spent our last vacation in New Orleans, much of it listening to jazz on Frenchman Street. At one club, I spotted an adorable tattooed female bartender who danced along to the music as she mixed cocktails. I thought she’d make a great character someday. And I knew her hero would be a jazz musician. Being the kind of writer I am, I was pretty sure they’d both be kinky. When I got a chance to write for this collection, I remembered that bar and that bartender and imagined a talented, hardworking sax player, who, like many of the men I’d seen in New Orleans, dressed sharp even in bone-meltingly hot weather. I had no idea who this handsome man really was, though, until I dreamed of a lion. The lion was magnificent, a perfect specimen, until I got closer. Then I could see it had a hole in its ribcage and its heart was bleeding. I woke up knowing that under my hero’s gorgeous, Domly surface, he was a hot mess with a broken heart–and a ginger with crazy hair. From there, I could write the tale. ~ Teresa

Creole Corsair was not my first attempt at a novella for this anthology, it was actually my third. The first two attempts kept spinning out of control, and I couldn’t rein in the characters or storyline to fit the parameters set for the story lengths. I’m a complete pantser, so until I start writing I have no idea where my stories will go. So to do right by the anthology, and the two previous stories I started, I had to set them aside for other projects because they need their own full length books. I finally settled on Sabine and Jasper and came up with a plot I could work into a novella. People say write what you know. What do I know? Unrequited high school love, being the chubby kid, and pirates. LOL So I built a story weaving in those three things, tapping into a ‘what if’ scenario that all girls who suffered the unrequited feelings of our first love think about…what if he actually did love us too? I hope everyone enjoys my version of that fantasy. ~Wren

I wrote Phenomenal to be a transitional piece in my Lost Series, a collection of standalone novels around a central lost theme. I loved the song Phenomenal by Eminem and Mixed Martial Arts. I thought “what would happen if you had the spirit of a champion but life got in the way? How bad would you fall down?” In Phenomenal, My hero has fallen to the ground. He’s beaten, torn into pieces, and gasping for breath. And yet he still gets in the ring. But he’s forgotten something…how to fight for himself. That is until he finds a woman who’s had the fight beaten out of her too. And yet she doesn’t give up. She finds a way to leave her abusive husband, and forces the hero to take a long look at his situation. Someone else’s situation can always be worse than your own. If they can get up, you better. And then I took her away from him. Yeah, my hero hated me, and it made him fight harder. That battle between us, he to get his girl back, me to keep her away until he was worthy, created Phenomenal. ~LeTeisha

I joked with the other ladies in the anthology that I wrote this book simply because I like sexy dragons. Because, who doesn’t, right? Originally, I wrote a short piece about a group of dragon shifters for a different anthology call, but I loved it so much I decided I’d rather turn it into a series. Playing With Fire is a prequel of sorts to that first piece and will be followed by the rest of the series about the men of Komodo Security and Private Investigations–all dragon shifters. I like the idea of exploring dragons from multiple cultures and histories, and taking some of the different elements of dragon lore and turning them around for a different take. So…keep a watch out for the next book in the Komodo Securities series! ~Margaret

Our wonderful friend and fellow NOLA Naughty Nin9 author, Amanda Byrnes, passed away in July. We dedicate this anthology to her memory. The loss has touched us deeply. But none more so than by her friend and critique partner, fellow NOLA Naughty Nin9 author Liv Rancourt, who on behalf of Amanda will share some things about why Amanda wrote her story…

This is a story about friendship. It’s a story about hundreds of shared emails and more than a few glasses of wine. It’s a story about laughter, and understanding, and respect.

And that’s just me n’ Amanda.

The story of Sultry contains many of the same elements. Last January, one of the original Naughty Nine authors had to bow out, so I emailed my friend and critique partner Amanda K. Byrne, and asked her if she’d be interested in filling the slot. She agreed, and after we worked out the details, I was treated to a stream of emails. “What about this? Do you think it would work?” She had lots of great ideas – I’ve never known another writer who could top her for spinning plot bunnies – but nothing clicked.

Then in the end of January, she sent me the first scene of a story. Ash, the hero, is a virgin. Rory, the heroine and his very best friend, is not. She’s the only woman he’s ever felt comfortable with, and, to use Amanda’s own words, “…the point … is to gender-flip the whole ‘virgin heroine asks the player hero to take her virginity'” thing. Ash and Rory were friends first, and the steps that led them to becoming lovers makes a fabulously sweet and hot story.

Sultry came together fast – Amanda could crank out the words (good words, too!), and my beta-reading comments were mostly along the lines of “OMG YOU WROTE A 25 PAGE SEX SCENE AND IT WORKS AND I HATE YOU”.

Nah, not really. 🙂

I didn’t hate her at all. I admired her, and respected her, and damn but I miss her. Amanda unexpectedly passed away on July 5th, leaving behind friends and family and her long-time S.O. I hope you enjoy Sultry, and that you seek out Amanda’s other work. She had so much talent and so much heart, and we’ll all feel her loss for a very long time. ~Liv

The germ of the idea for Change of Heart came from a scholarly article I read about Dr. James Barry, a 19th century British military surgeon. He was incredibly gifted, accomplished, and known for being rude, and after he died, the serving-woman who prepared his body discovered he was a woman.

His story has been claimed by feminists, and more recently by students of trans history. It’s impossible to know how Dr. Barry viewed himself – as a highly intelligent woman who did what was necessary to practice medicine at a time when women were forbidden to do so, or as a man who happened to have a different biology.

Either way, Dr. Barry fascinates me. There are very few records of trans people from before the 1970s, and I wanted to explore how it might have been to live with that kind of secret. We’d agreed to set all our stories in New Orleans, and since few US cities have a more colorful history, I basically just picked a year and went with it. I hope I captured something of the time and place, and I hope you enjoy my sweet and spicy little story. ~ Liv

Sadly, Amanda passed away July 2016.
